Records: [NES PAL] A-Type

Thread in 'Competition' started by Kitaru, 10 Mar 2014.

  1. @Sinewave: are you using a special ROM or is TRT the result of scripting?

  2. Hi, just getting into this! I'm playing on Nestopia with a cheap USB NES controller.
    Here's my PB so far...
    Name: Andre N
    Score: 426840
Level: 19+2.00 (am I correct in thinking this means 2 lines past the transition?)
    Comment: EMU (15)
    Here's a video

    Hopefully I can improve further!

Transition to level 19 using tetris with 159 lines.

Until now, I have tried to break point records only from level 18, but this is the end. Since the starting level does not matter, it makes no sense to create more difficult conditions. Just a dozen attempts from levels 9 and 12 and boom! — new PB and AFAIR new Polish record (@Phor, confirmation is needed).

It is a pity that CTWC Poland qualifications did not go as well as now at home… ;)

  4. @furious programming Yes, it's a new Polish record and probably it will stay for a long time because I'm not going to try it

  5. I, on the other hand, will still try to break the current record (from different levels). But not on the emulator anymore, because Chinese controllers are shitty compared to the original ones, and the emulation itself is not perfect, which significantly hinders the gameplay (especially on kill-screen). Now it's time for a actual console.

  6. Is anyone in here playing NTSC on original console. I've been thinking about getting a console but I'd like to focus on NTSC. How are people in Europe doing it?

  7. I confirm, National Best. I am updating my research data and adding those colors on Classic Tetris PAL Discord. :)

  8. So close to 500K. Just got this close to 600k on NTSC as well. Soon...

The game was almost perfect—quite nice RNG, no miss-drops, not many burned lines. However, at the end of the game, when I had 122 lines, the sequence of blocks forced me to cover well and burn one line, which made the last two tetris dirty and I couldn't collect anything on kill-screen (even push-down points). But I'm happy because I'm very close to crossing the magic limit of 700k points starting from level 18. ;)

  12. I did it! Just pushed my personal best to over 600k (on an emulator): 607 632. Starting on level 18.

    What's next ;)

  14. Got my first score over 500k on an NES with lvl 18 start :)

  16. What's the story with this video from Jake?

    1.25 million on PAL??

  17. @Adonis Mouse: it looks like bullshit, literally. ;)

In my opinion, what I wrote before, max out in the PAL version is possible, but extremely difficult to achieve. However, this achievement looks suspicious, due to the almost complete absence of misdrops, crazy buildings and crazy spins, perfect DAS mastery, extraordinary sense of droughts (especially on kill screen), etc. And the most suspicious case — usage of emulator and the record jump from 831,420 to 1,254,160 (source: commentary below video — someone counted it) over two days (February 8-9). The 422,740 difference done entirely on kill screen.

I do not want to say that Jake is a cheater, but until he shows a similar game on a real console, including the recording of the controller and the work of the hands (optionally also himself, just like Joseph does on his videos), this record should not be taken into account. The best PAL players in the world such as Svavar, Jani, Richard and Joseph were not able to break even the 800k barrier, and here we have 1.25M. It's ridiculous. I want to believe that this is true, but there are many indications that it is different.

So, Jake — do it on the actual console and show that you are actually so good.

  18. We never had "played on real hw" as a requirement here. For me its enough if the player either records live his hands and an input display or a someone I know in person tells me he saw him playing live on that level.

  19. Been playing abouth a month now and this is where i am now. If the records list is up to date, this makes me number 51 i think :D

Started at lvl15 and ended at 18 to a complete mental breakdown. Am confident that i can make much better scores in near future.
