  1. This is something that has been in the works by Paul676 (he's from HD for those of you who don't know him) for a while, but is finally in a finalised state to be worth announcing here without having to repost the info nearer the time (though I accept this is a bit short notice for a lot of people).

    The Info
The UK Tetris Open will be taking place from 2pm-9pm on 21st July 2012 at Gamerbase in the Trocadero in Piccadilly, London.

Here's the website, updated with the ruleset:

It will be on Tetris Friends Arena. Seeding will be for the top 16 by Tetris Friends Sprint time. It is planned to be a 64-player bracket, with 16 groups of 4 whereupon the top 2 in each group go forward (UEFA Champions League style) to a single elimination tournament with playoffs for the top 8 positions.

There will be a sign-up fee of 10 pounds (roughly $15). All profit will go to Childreach International

    The Prizes
You didn't think you'd be forced to pay £10 to play Tetris Friends without some sort of reward, right? There are actually some fucking good prizes on offer here, courtesy of sponsorship from Corsair:

1st prize: Corsair Vengeance K90 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

2nd prize: Corsair Vengeance K60 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

3rd Prize: Corsair Vengeance 1300 Gaming Headset
Giveaway to be chosen out of a hat: Ticket for 1 day of play at Gamerbase

The headset is pretty good, and both keyboards are mechanical and use red Cherry MX switches. I already own a Filco and I definitely wouldn't mind either of the top two prizes.

And really, the best thing of all? I'll be there. Me. So come, and stuff.
  2. Hi. I'm Paul676, and I approve this message.
  3. 2 days to go until the UK Tetris Open - if you're in the area, please come along!
  4. To copypasta from HD for anyone who is going, I'll be getting into Kings X station not long after 11am tomorrow, and then spending a couple of hours in the Casino Leisure arcade on Tottenham Court Rd (it's near Goodge St tube station) and finding lunch somewhere before I head down to the Trocadero.

Will meet up with peeps if they're interested.
  5. If either of my grandparents were still alive and this was a normal summer like last year or the year before, I would guarantee you that I'd be in England right now and that I'd be at the tournament. Wish I could make it, sounds like a ton of fun. Hope it goes well! Post the results ASAP!
