Oh, hey. Another NDS_TGM player. I'll be more direct than Kitaru. The actual, official TGM3 can be played on your windows XP, or Windows Vista computer. You just have to... find it. Possibly run another program in the background to keep it running at 60 FPS depending on your graphics card setup.
Hi, I'm Uli and i am absolutely Game Boy Tetris mad. I play every spare minute and if you see a somebody in London, UK in a bus, on the Tube or just anywhere - with a GameBoy pocket playing tetris, its me! If you happen to come to London - we can have a match (I have a few GameBoys, tetriseses and link-cables) 1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? - Quite a few people had GameBoys in the early 90ies so I was really keen on playing (tetris) when I finally got one in 1992. I am a humble person, but I have to admit I am a very good player - I am the current Twin Galaxies world record holder for GB riginal tetris (most points + most lines). 2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play? - Original GB Tetris - EVERY DAY 3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ) keep you busy? - None 4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy? - I played Lumines on the PSP for a bit, but it turned out to be boring once I realized there is a pattern to it. 5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept? - Google
Hey Uli, welcome! GB? Thumb tap or index, and how fast? Ever consider transitioning to NTSC NES Tetris if you get the GB max-out? EDIT: Just caught your video, so scratch the question about the thumbs, hehe.
Hello everybody, I live in Orleans, it is a big city in france under Paris. I am a player of tetris since I am young, 10 years old maybe, I have started on Gameboy, with the classic game and the DX version (too easy). I have played many years on the classic version and I reached 275 lines 2 years ago. I have played some other tetris games recently, super tetris 2 and 3, a bit of Tetris DS, but today I am more attracted by Tetris the grand master, since I have seen some terrible videos from japan last year. I play TGM1 today and I am S8. In searching with some names of players of youtube, I found this forum finaly. I have seen a lot of ranking page in the competition section of the forum. I have some questions : 1 : how do you submit your scores ? with a picture only ? 2 : I play TGM1 on MAME, I have found TGM2 some days ago, but I can not find TGM3. Is it available ? 3 : TAP = TGM2 here ? 4 : Where can I find a documentation to improve at TGM1 in the forum ?
Welcome to the forums. 1) Yes, a screenshot is fine. If you have a recording you'd like to share as well, feel free. 2) Available? Well... yes. In MAME? No -- the game originally ran on a PC-based hardware running Windows XP, so it is more of a warez situation... 3) TAP = The Absolute Plus = TGM2+ = tgm2p in MAME 4) Villadelfia did a translate/rewrite of Japanese player J.O's excellent guide for TGM. You can find it hosted here: http://kitaru.1101b.com/TGMGUIDE/
Thank you kitaru. I have seen your name many times in the top of the ranking here. You are very strong !! For the moment, I will play only TGM1 until I can reach GM. I prefer to not play TGM2 and TGM3 now to not be confused. Thank you for the link, now I can understand many many problem I have today with the dynamic of the game.
1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? 2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play? 3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ) keep you busy? 4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy? 5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept? Answer: 1. It captivates my heart to play tetris because of the fact that my two younger brothers are good on Tetris Battle in facebook. I want to compete with them. I've been playing it for about 2 months. I'm still a newbie wanting to become an expert in t-spin! 2. Tetris Battle in facebook and NullpiMino for practice. 3.ragnarok, diablo, castlevania, ps2, pc, console games, 4. angry birds and fruit ninja. 5. google. I just typed tetris forums because I'm eager to improve my tetris techniques. I want to master the t-spin in a minimal time as possible. if it's really possible though.
Welcome to the forum stacko and everyone else! Thanks for sharing your Tetris experiences. I also learned about the forum by googling for info on t-spins. You will learn more about t-spin setups in the wiki and there are some helpful videos on YouTube. Don't hesitate to ask questions if something's not clear and enjoy your stay! It surprised me to find out I didn't post here in ages (01-30-2011). Thanks Kitaru and the other people for welcoming the new members.

1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? I want to test the game after seen the YouTube well known video. Start to play with a 1066in1 on my cab for 2 years. Decided to buy a tgm 2 a year ago (only play on 15khz arcade cab). Ask amnesia to ask it for me here because no one know me. As nobody sell it, i finally buy it at Sophia corp. 2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play? I play TGM2+. Not so much (1 play / 2 weeks)... And the Gameboy version of course. 3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ) keep you busy? The CAVE games. Dodonpachi, Mushihimesama futari, and the others... 4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy? Puzzle bobble MVS and Twinkle star sprites (shmup+puzzle mix). 5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept? I see the superplay of Petit prince on nolife tv i think.
1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? I started playing Tetris because I enjoy that type of puzzle/strategy game and seem to be pretty good at it. It started with Dr.Mario, I was way better than everyone I knew at that game, and then I got into Tetris next. I have been playing for almost twenty years. I started when I was about 12 and I will turn 31 this year. I used to think I was pretty darn good at Tetris. I am an ok player at versus-type games on 360 and Wii, and above average on NES/SNES. 2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play? I play for about an hour a day, maybe two sometimes. I used to play Evolution on 360 all the time, but the lag sucks for online versus games now. I played tetris Splash a lot to try to fill the void of Evolution, but never really liked that game much. I play Tetris Party on the wii maybe once a week or so, but not real big on that online version either, although I do enjoy the single player variations. For the last three months, I have been entirely devoted to NES Tetris. Trying to get in shape for the 2012 Classic Tetris World Championship. I have been breaking the monotony of NES Tetris with SNES Tetris (got some new personal bests in lines and points recently). 3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ) keep you busy? I like driving games and flying games, but I am not into any right now. Except maybe mariokart. I like playing some mariokart online. 4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy? Mostly just Dr. Mario. I play that sometimes. When I was a kid I was really good at it. I could play on high speed pretty much indefinitely (I recall one time getting to Level 28 but don't know if I ever got further than that), but I am not that good anymore. If I spent a little time on it, who knows, but the passion isn't there like it used to be. 5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept? Ben Mullen, one of the best NES Tetris players in the world, keeps a blog at Twin Galaxies, and he referred to this website's SNES Tetris/Dr.Mario thread as THE leaderboard for that game's records.
Hey Josh, welcome! I saw your YouTube channel and it looks like you're in pretty good shape with NES Tetris. Make yourself at home, and I look forward to seeing you at CTWC 2012!
Thanks, Kitaru. I would have to disagree with you though regarding NES Tetris, I still have a lot of work to do with that game. I can't transition from a Level 18 mindset to a Level 19 mindset or from 19 to 18. It is depressing, really But definitely looking forward to CTWC 2012 Even if I can only have one type of brain handy at a time, hopefully my Level 19 mindset is good enough to get through qualifying rounds! And I would like to thank you for your youtube channel. Your DAS charge video is invaluable, and instrumental in my recent growth in ability to play Level 19. Many, many thanks! And speaking of making myself at home here, I tried chiming in on the SNES Tetris/Dr.Mario thread, but got rejected. What's up with that? I guess I could just PM Amnesia with my scores, as that is who started the thread and has the list of high scores posted there on the first post, which is probably the correct course of action if I want to get my name put there anyway.
Hi ! What is your problem exactely ? You can not just make a post in the T&DrM thread ? It is weird, I don't know what happens. You can give me your scores by PM if you want.
668k is a pretty slick score in my book! Keep at it -- you'll be able to string together better and better 18 and 19 performances with practice. I'm glad the video was helpful despite its improvisational nature, haha. I hope to make a better video at some point that also serves as a general guide to high level NES Tetris. We'll see how that goes. I think there is an anti-spam measure that blocks posts with images or links if the user has not been approved by a moderator. After that gets sorted, you shouldn't have any more problems posting. I'll ping someone to get that resolved.
Welcome to every new comer.. still glad to see new register even if i don't come in this thread often.. hope you find someone able to help you on your journey
Hi forum. I met Kitaru at Rockage in San Jose today, and he told me to check out this forum. ----- 1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? I originally played it as a child because my family had it for our Apple II. However, I didn't really get "into it" until I bought the NES cartridge at FuncoLand when I was a sophomore in college (this was 2001). My roomies and I had a sheet of paper taped near the TV for recording scores. I think I finished that year with a high in the 200k's. I got better in subsequent years. My highest NES score was just over 600k in 2006. 2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play? After today, I think I need to just buy a NES and play all the time. Since moving to California, I've only played the cartridge on the FC Twin, which is disorienting. After my frustration with that, I got Tetris Party Deluxe for the Wii and have played that a lot. I also play Tetris Battle on Facebook fairly often. 3. What other games besides Tetris (if any) keep you busy? Lately I play way too much Triple Town. I also like Arkanoid, NES Pinball, and all kinds of puzzle games and fighting games. I also love the NES Mario games. 4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy? I absolutely love Lumines Plus. However, I've maxed it, and doing so takes like three straight hours of playing...? So I don't do that often. Other console puzzles: Puzzle Fighter, Tetris Attack, Kirby's Avalanche Facebook puzzles: Feevo, Combine, Blockies, Triple Town 5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept? word of mouth / Kitaru
