Dear Forum.
Finally after 2 weeks with dozens of close calls:

I DID IT!



I am mostly struggeling with achieving 126000 points, speed-wise I might be able to do 12:30 with my current speed level, so this was a quite fine try.

Thank you all for the tons of very useful information in this forum and in particular Amnesia who helped me understand TGM in the first place.

Can someone tell me what screen capture software is working well with Windows 7 because I'd like to upload the video to YouTube.

Personally, I would use MAME's in-built recording feature using a command like this:

mame tgmj -playback tgmj.inp -aviwrite tgmj.avi

Then take the 30-40GB file that that gives (iirc, it should write the file in the "snap" folder) and encode it in VirtualDub to something smaller. If you need any help doing this, I'm open to pms, or you could just ask here and I'm sure anyone with any expertise will chime in.

Did you get your GM on Mame or on PCB ?

 

I even survived the credit roll and 13 minutes of the alarm sound because in my version of mame that doesn't turn off for some reason.

Such a relief. I'm off to ta death. Next goal: M rank recorded with video.

in the end I had to add a few bits to your line to make it run correctly in my setup:

move nvram\tgmj.nv nvram\tgmj.tmp
copy inp\LastGame.nv nvram\tgmj.nv
Shmupmame_v22.exe tgmj -playback LastGame.inp -aviwrite LastGame.avi
move nvram\tgmj.tmp nvram\tgmj.nv

Unfortunately recording stops at ca. 14GB and 4:31 min...although the playback lasts ca.25m. What file size would you expect?

Win7 NTFS

P.S. just had my second GM at 12:47 and an S8 999 at 12:30, so there is something in the pipeline. (probably because I started playing TAP death for a bit / L257)

 

Hey all, this is my first time posting a record here. GM in 13:06:60 on PCB:

 

Ow It took me like 20 GMs on Mame and 6 more months to get my first PCB's GM So it lets you 3 years to become next the real oldest 1st GM

I got my PCB about a year ago nicofromtokyo, and I got my first GM I think about 2 months after that. It takes a while to get used to using a joystick after playing on the keyboard. I alternate between TGM1 on PCB and TGM2+ on MAME now. My TGM2+ performances aren't that great yet. I've only made it to 999 once!

Sorry for being a smart arse.

I have been waiting for 8 month now for a PCB to pop up at sophia-corp...so one day, I might be a PCB GM, but there is no hurry.
For now I don't think I will have much time to play TGM until the end of the year, so it is your term to beat my time.
