So close to finishing a game yet again. I know it's not TGM, but close enough. I think I'm gonna be stuck at around the 950 mark for a while.
So I fired up TGM today for a couple of rounds before work. I noticed two things: 1. Sometimes it's really hard to concentrate on the game while your 2 and 3 year old boys are arguing about what I'm playing. 2 year old: "are you playing castles daddy?" 3 year old: "he's playing tetris" 2 year old: "it's blocks daddy. BLOCKS!!" 3 year old: "no it's tetris" 2 year old: "BLOCKS!!!" 3 year old :"TETRIS!!!" And this goes on for about 10 minutes. 2. Sometimes I hate the randomizer on TGM. Sometimes it's great. I was playing last night and couldn't get any piece I needed at any given time. My highest rank last night was S1 before I had to put the joystick down before something bad happened. Today totally different story. Every piece I needed. It also seemed to be giving me an I every 4-5 pieces. I kept having the entire left side with 3 or 4 I's stacked on top of each other. I played about 5 or 6 games. I got to S7 3 times in a row in the last 3 games. I think I did better and felt more comfortable in 20G than I have before. I was getting more tetrises than I usually do. Still haven't managed to complete a game though. Always one misdrop kills me. I can't recover from that one bad drop...
Nope, he's never seen either of them, but I have been known to play a LOT of Rampart back in the day. He get's the whole "castles" thing from playing with wooden blocks. Anything with blocks is castles!!
No one over here craving for my attention or disturbing me when I'm at home. And most of the time I'm listening to music so as to not be disturbed by the people around me when I'm playing. I noticed that listening to particular music has a positive effect om my game performances. You're almost there DumbledorsArmy. Just a little bit and then you can concentrate on time attack and fulfilling the GM requirements. As for the randomizer, even though the TGM randomizer takes some time to get used to it can still be very frustrating at times. I do believe however that some days nothing goes the way you want them to go anyway and you will have to just do something else for a change. The next few weeks I'll see if I can improve some more and hopefully S7 or S6 with a good mastering time will be achieved by the end of the month. Other objectives are to get S1 in TAP and an S rank in Special Ti. Especially my pretty low rank of 3 in Special Ti worries me. Because of my bad section times over 01:15 in most cases I can't get higher ranks so far...
Actually the kids love watching me play. Just get a little over-excited. I still listen to the game music though. That actually surprises me, usually I do listen to my own music while playing games. I find that the music in TGM fits well with the game though. Havne't been playing too many other versions of tetris though. I'll fire up texmaster but I usually on play sudden ti. And my record for that is abysmal... The main other game I've been playing lately is Splash. Is it wrong for me to toy with people in there? I'll play pretty slow for one game, and then balls to the walls the next. It's entertaining, espacially if they have mics and are talking. Does the title screen for TGM remind anyone else of Scrabble??? I did manage to set a new time for S7 mastering time today. Down to 10:23.xx. Most game's I now get to at least S5. I've gotten better at surviving in 20G for longer. Now I just need to get better at stacking for tetrises in 20G.
Damn Bravo.... Thought it would be nice to get a Bravo. Finally manage to get one with a Tetris and it just totally throws me off. Jumped me to S3 probably quicker than I've ever gotten there. It took me by surprise that I had actually gotten it that I messed up with a couple of pieces. About 30 seconds later I'm toast....

So I havn't played TGM for several days, but I have been playing some Texmaster. Mainly normal mode, but some sudden Ti. Does this constitute taking a break from TGM?
NO! You're being dodgy there playing Normal. Either you take a real break and not play at all or you take a break from TGM1 style and play something else.
I started playing TGM again this weekend and finally managed to get S5 with joystick with a mastering time around 9 minutes and my score was over 60.000. I'm starting to get used to the stick, but survival after level 600 is still hard because I can't seem to get used to 20G. Still hoping S7 will be achieved by the end of the year. EDIT: Just managed to get S6 in Texmaster with a mastering time over 10 minutes and died at level 692.
There is only some stupid reflexes you must have and other you must avoid to survive at 20G.. Once you get it, you can play undefinitely at this speed.. After the barrer S5-S7, you will improve faster ! S8 and S9 can come in the same day.
I feel I should be able ot get S7 if I keep my cool and play long enough now. For S8 and higher I will need more time before I get there. I've been able to get S5 at least 7 times now. But never did I manage to obtain a better mastering time than when I first got the rank. Probably because I play with joystick most of the time now. Well I'll keep practicing and I really fear for when I have to start manual locking to improve my speed. Hopefully I'll be able to get S6 the next few day.
Long time no post. First go in a few months. It's hardly worth posting because it's only 1second faster than my old time, but it gets me up the scoreboard slightly
