Thanks. Usually in the level 300-400 I'm around S1 or S2. I think my main problems are using ARS versus SRS and I am also tending to stack as if I'm playing a SRS game. That said, I managed to pull this off today. As you can see, I've decided to go with DDA for my initials. Unfortunately, my two little boys were in the room at the time, I deleted the 'A', so now I have DD on top of my high score list...
Wow from S5 to S7! Congrats! This is even better than what I expected. I was sure you could get S6, but I had no idea your 20G skills were this good. It wil take a while before I can survive that long unfortunately. When I use the 20G code in TGM I can survive till about level 300, but in TGM I've never made it over level 650 so far. Well you should now aim to finish the game with S9 or GM! EDIT: Also noticed the thread just had its 50.000th view.
after i got somewhat comfortable with 20G i progressed pretty steadily up to S7. then things got harder when i finally worked it up to S8 and eventually S9, then it was to get to 999... but the hardest thing after that was to get GM in time, i remember one instance i finished the game in 13:30:26 or something like that, i was slower than the limit aproximately up to one second! that was so frustrating. even now i don't hit GM every time in TGM because i'm still not that good at stacking, some fancy 20G moves, the movement (sub 20G) is not optimal and i don't really pay that much attention to the tetromino history.

If you improve your time and score a little you will be even able to get GM. Almost there!
feels great that I did it and it only took nine months to get from 9 to Gm. I think the next obvious goal would be TAP Gm
I have a backup of my TGM folder just in case! Maybe now you will refrain from using different initials. 9 months is pretty fast especially if you are new to Tetris. It's been almost 5 months for me and I don't really expect to get the GM grade any time soon. I hope to get it in within a year though. Good luck with your other objectives! I have made some progress playing with stick. I managed to get S4, but the mastering time was terrible. T_T

A sub-12 minute game! Win! I had a nice hole on the right side to finish, so I just slammed down pieces at level 995 until I got something that'd work, and that obviously screwed me up for surviving the credit roll, but Gm is Gm, pardon my dust!
Well, I seemed to have hit a wall... Most of the time I can't even make it past about the 450 level. The highest I've gotten since all my high scores got erased has been S4. I don't know what is going on...
I probably fall somewhere in this range, but the beginning date would be fuzzy. I played for a week or so back in 2002, and then I think I started again in... December 2006 for a brief stint, maybe? All I know is I didn't get too serious about things until mid-2007. My first screenshotted score is a S1 in May 2007, and I had GM six months later. I can't say for sure how long it took me when I started playing seriously, but it seems like it falls within a similar range.
A more reasonable objectif is DEATH M right after the TGM GM.. Then you can rise on the MASTER M.. Then, breaking the torikan at 2:28 on SHIRASE, get the DEATH GM and finaly, get the Master M on TI.. Once I will have this last one, I will go for TAP MASTER GM.
This happens to me all the time. Just take a break. Also practice the 300 to 500 section in Texmaster. Do you still use the same TGM setup since you lost your highscores? Maybe something happened? Earlier today I played TGM again after a one week break and I managed to get S5 again after only 2 tries with a score just over 63.000. Pretty certain I can get S6 right now if I want, but the mastering time would be over 10 minutes...
