I can't believe I never connected this before. After every game where I let the replay save, there will also be a Novice mode replay that is saved. I think for some reason, when I start a game, Novice mode is also selected and plays simultaneously in the background.
OOOOH, I finally realize why now. It's player's 2's inputs that I overlapped with my control scheme. Geez, that was a bit obscure considering the inputs never overlapped on the menu but in a game where I don't have time to pay attention. I think it would be a good idea to have player 2 be off by default.
BUG. Regret doesn't seem to be implemented. If you wish to show the grade during play, here's the proper implementation. WHen you get a section cool, show the grade as x+1 (actually have the +1 after it) if you die, any +1 should vanish. If you get a section regret, 1 grade is subtracted, and the +1 goes away. If you pass the level stop, and do not get a session time regret, then the x+1 is converted at that point into a normal grade. Simple.
that's proper behavior, if that cool is never awarded. But it goes beyond that. Not only is it not truly awarded until the section ends, a section regret OVERRIDES it. if you get a cool and a regret, the regret replaces the +1 grade for the cool with a -1 grade.
Hmm, yeah, just realised what was actually happening. I was playing D so I never actually completed the roll. I that case, a request for maybe the ability to start on 999+ or something, and have the ability to play as long as possible under the credit roll conditions?

Perhaps try slowing down a little so that you miss some section cools and receive a lower speedcurve.
You know, it has always bothered me that we don't have a way to say what stage of the speed curve we are on. It is annoying that one person can get a higher level by playing slow.
Report: I love you. Please change snd_sp700. It is BAD folk metal. (I hope it is not your favorite) Here are 3 GOOD alternatives. http://www.sendspace.com/file/hda65m
This is a bit of a messy area for the rankings in terms of actual skill level. I think cdsboy is referring to how the worth of the grades overlap one another on the differing curves. You might decide to play slower to gain a higher displayed grade although the actual grade you deserve if you had gotten a section skip would have been lower.
every section cool = 1 gradeup, as soon as it's awarded in texmaster. he better performance will have the better grade.
Not if the curve kills you early on. This mostly affects those who cannot max out the curve. The section cools they miss, they make up on by actually finishing more sections.
This is definitely false. My (subjective) "best" performances in Special TI have been S6es. My highest-graded performances have been S9s where I played poorly at the start, stayed at the bottom of the speed curve, and reached 999 because of it. Don't forget that the grade point system awards more points for clears late in the game. Survival is much more important to your grade than speed (at least until you start shooting for the upper ranks, where you'll need to get section cools).
