Texmaster

  1. Playing slow in the early sections is no longer a viable strategy. I got a regret almost every section and ended up with an S1.

    that's the idea.

You can still stack at the end of level stop, but you have to beat the regret timer, or you will lose not only 1 grade, but your section cool as well.

  3. You want to play slowly enough to miss the COOL, but not slowly enough to get the REGRET. That ought to keep you on the low end of the speed curve.

Alternatively, just play as quickly as possible and forget about the grading. [IMG]

  4. Bug: Files placed in data/ do not work in the Mac OS X version.

    thanks!

still working on my game... hopefully within another month i can at least consistently pass lv800 on Ti...

  8. Report: I have a problem with the volume setting in Texmaster 2009 beta 3.

I can turn the volume down, but as soon as I push F11 to get back out to the main menu it resets to max volume again.

    DOUBLES!!! [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

awesome, Report. only one thing i saw wrong: the gravity slows at level 200 when it shouldn't. it should keep getting faster from 100-300.

edit: oh, also replays aren't working for doubles mode. maybe you haven't added this feature yet.

    bug.

The music should ALWAYS silence before a music change in special TI and sudden TI.

In texmaster if you skip past the previous level before the speed change, the music doesn't silence before the level stop. This is incorrect. as soon as you get awarded the section cool, it should stop if that pushes the next section into a speed change boundary.

evidence: all the GM videos. in TI master mode, the final music change assuming no skips, happen when you hit 800, not 700 (proven by BIG mode plays, where there are no section cools). If you get every section cool, you will jump from 699 to 800. and the music DOES silence.

a regret at that point will NOT prevent the skip. it WILL hapen regardless.

the instant you get a section cool, the internal level counter gets bumped 100, but the speed curve from the current section is kept.

SO bug 2 is for special TI, the music change is at 800 (speed) not 700.

am i correct in observing that backgrounds have to be 320x240? if so, why? i would love to have at least 640x480, preferably higher--i mean, the game runs so well at high resolutions, might as well have spiffy backgrounds to go along with it? or does it run so well at high resolutions because of the small backgrounds?

and this would be the formal request for a 16x10 or 16x9 option in the game.

also, level_up.wav doesn't seem to work.

awesome stuff! this game is amazing.

  12. When you've changed resolution in the ini, it just upscales the 320x240 picture. It runs in 320x240.

And, am I the only one who misses the part of the screen that shows what buttons you've pressed? D; I found that informative. To see how effectivly I'm pressing the buttons and how stress affects button presses etc...

  13. i too think the input report feature important [IMG]

it's cool on replays, can't see the use for it during play...

I think the input display is a pretty nice feature. I was able to quickly glance at my placements and see how frequently I was locking and how efficiently I was doing it (Not during actual play of course but for replay purposes). It's kind of hard to track with the lock delay bar when the speed gets really fast.

I have a simple feature request. It would be great to be able to save replays of games that are locked on a level infinitely.

EDIT: Oh, and another request. Would it be possible to allow the player to change what is displayed on screen with F8 before recording a replay? Currently, I have to rely on pressing F8 swiftly as soon as I start recording.

Thanks for the great work on beta 3, Report. [IMG]

  17. Bug.

Play Normal mode. The music is playing correctly. Get Game Over by topping out or pressing F11. Play Normal again. The music from the main menu is still there, and when it has finished playing, the game will have no music. To get music again in Normal, play another mode than Normal, then after getting Game Over in that mode, play Normal again.

Oh, I have another idea. It would be really cool to be able to specify loop points for custom BGMs. Some songs may have an intro portion that doesn't blend quite well when looped.
