I personally never heard Henk mention anything negative about TGM. He actually likes to show the youtube/google clips of the TGM Shirase modes to people. If anything, I believe his stance in game design is to accomidate beginners and casual players, not only hardcore players like ourselves.
(Translated from http://game.2ch.net/arc/kako/1025/10259/1025983217.html) Stepping aside the whole clone argument for a moment (that's another topic entirely) Mihara mentions a word that translates to "bad blood", "abrasion", or "getting into bad terms with", and illogical behavior on turning down new developments of TGM during that time, due to his declining making a guideline game and Henk holding a grudge with the incident. This is an old article during the early days of the guideline, circa 2002 (you probably haven't been working for him yet back then), so perhaps the bad blood between the two have been resolved through time? Of course, the source being an anonymous forum, it is possible that both of these were written by imposters, but the general tone and style of writing by both individuals at least matched that of their writings in other locations.
beware...rant ahead. wow! i just read the above post. henk is BAD! lol no seriously. tetris is awesome. henks tetris games are garbage. just played the tetris zone game on my mac for 20 minutes. hate it. tetris world garbage. good tetris games out now: tetris ds (duh!) tgm (never played it but it looks awesome) it bugs me how i never had a chance to play this. release a tgm on wii/mac/ds plz? henk should just enjoy his money and let other ppl design games. he is holding back tetris potential. RAWR!
TGM2 was ported to PS2 but then could not get authorization for release. A TGM game was started for PSP but was quickly cancelled after similar problems. So yeah, I wouldn't counts on it. Though if you've got Windows you can play a tetromino-dropping puzzle game from Arika (the creators of TGM) that is called Jewelry Master. It's free, to boot.
well...we shouldnt turn this topic into a henk discussion...ya...um whats up with pajitnov? he is a fun guy. in the perfect world he kicks henks ass for being so whiny about his bad versions of tetris. pajitnov now works for microsoft...right? didnt henk team up with an ex nintendo guy recently to form a new company which has a big focus on the mobile market?
wow eww! now it makes sense why ea makes them. lets hope ea (ya right...) invests in a new tetris somewhere in the future. ignoring henk with their weight and money.
I think cycle has Blue Lava Wireless and the Tetris Online company mixed up. Blue Lava is the company that focused on mobile phones (which was bought by Jamdat which was in turn bought by EA), and Tetris Online is the company Rogers started with Ex-Nintendo prez Minoru Arakawa.
u are right needle. but tepples mixed that up for me. thx tepples! just the thought of ea+tetris makes me uneasy though. whats up with the tetris online company? iam pretty sure they have a focus on the mobile market.
so far i've liked what ea's been doing with tetris. fairly solid games. i mean come on, they're ea. they invented pc gaming (not really but i'm just saying). nonetheless blue lava wireless was started by henk to get the mobile ball rolling, right? tetris online is becoming a mystical beast to me. i haven't seen that label on any game so far.
What are likely system specs? this is a new computer, but it's a study machine, so it has a 3ghz processor but it's not much for gaming. What are the system specs looking like for zone on windows? Any kind of graphical requirements and ill be hosed. GOGO ONBOARD INTEGRATED GRAPHICS!
That machine would probably run Zone just fine, unless there's a really sloppy porting job. A 3-year-old Mac running at 1.5GHz runs Zone without any performance problems.
im running zone on my 13" Macbook. It has onboard graphics, c2d processor, 1gb ram. So I would assume that if the porting goes smoothly, the system reqs should be equal to the macs and u should run the game just fine.
