Tetris fear?

How did Tetris get so popular in Japan, a country with superstitious fear of four? Or is that the Terror in Terror-Instinct?

yeah i wouldn't be surprised if that's where "Terror" Instinct and "Death" mode came from

 

Maybe it's because you get to vaporize the pieces by making lines, so they feel like they are doing war against the onslaught of evil 4-celled pieces.

 

They want to kill it as fast as possible, that's why they're so fast
