This is a very old record of mine from back in April, before I quit tetris. I'm slowly starting to get back into it, but it'll be a long while before I even equal my previous best scores.
Amnesia, is that you? My previous fastest time was 8:27:08, so surely this is not that surprising... I've actually still got the video of this run, but watching it over, my playing is really erratic, and nothing to be proud of (which is probably why I didn't stick it up on youtube at the time, and also why I'm not sticking it up now, either ). Some of the sections were blindingly fast, whereas others were quite sloppy; so without analyzing the video in detail, I'm guessing that playing a slow section right after a fast one is the reason I missed out on the M grade. Oh, and by the way Amnesia, you might want to edit the first post; the world record is Orange line GM in 7:34:75, by jin8. The fastest Green line GM is in 7:18:25, by CAA. jin8's 7:30:11 is only a Green line.
After some big mode, I *finally* match my texmaster S9 performance! First try today too, the randomizer was super nice to me after nuking me that big mode run. Orange line @ 10:04:60
An advantage of the weekly credit system is that it's encouraging me to play a lot more Master mode. Each run being 9 minutes instead of 2 or 3 is better value for money, so to speak. Got S9 today with my stick. I died at 992, but I had S9 extremely early (920-ish). It was on Texmaster, not TAP, and the time was about 9:15 but it's still encouraging for me. Especially because the first section time was just under 1:05, and I'm usually pretty crap with the joystick on low G.
new high score for me: S6, lvl 998 (damn that last line) time:10:33:73 screenshot available upon request.
no new record and I still haven't reached 999 yet, but: all of my section times are now under 1:00:00! damn 400-500 was stuck at 1:00:xx for the longest time.
Ohh please.. Come on TAP and get a S9 around 920..And I will really respect it..Except jago and mfm, I did not yet see somebody here doing it.. The grading system is not only a little bit biaised on texmaster, it is just, totaly different..It is like a "normal" and "hard" mode on any video game..
I pointed out getting S9 early not to say I got S9 early, but more to say that even if you take the fact that Texmaster grading is easier into account, I still would have been at or around S9 by the end.
If you want a concrete goal getting sub 9 minutes (regardless of grade) wouldn't be bad, assuming you haven't already. It would probably better to focus on improving your consistency, but that's more abstract.
If there is no doubt that I will only become the 3rd DEATH Gm, I would remind you c_t that the 2nd Master Gm western player is not yet decided.. ps : jago, vite de ravirer ce topic pour rien stp, chaque fois j'ai presque une crise cardiaque quand je vois ton nom en face de "TAP master records"...
Hmm, that wasn't meant to be taken seriously. I'm not pitying you... That part was a joke (note the ). The real reason was mentioned first: I have other goals for now. I'm not interested in playing the m-roll lottery*. I crave consistency and a little more speed and I'm seeing steady improvement in Ti. When my improvement plateaus I'll work on the m-roll again. But for now going for TAP Master GM would feel like bashing my head against the wall. * Note that I'm not implying the m-roll is won by luck alone. It's definitely consistently doable with skill. But with my current skills I'd have to be very lucky indeed. <EDIT> It's just like I wouldn't say jago is pitying me by letting me have records in Ti. He simply has a different goal. There is no pity here. Jago wants TAP Master GM more than anything else right now, and I want to learn to manhandle Ti.
