S7 in 9:40.33 with green line (botched the disappearing challenge) Edit: That was the 999 time. Mastering time was 9:12.73. Edit 2: Died at 994 with a better time at S7. No line.
Do those rankings make sense to anyone else? I thought that for green and orange lines, the mastering time and clear time were always the same. I'm not sure which score to rank higher... Looks like DeHackEd's personal scoreboard is glitching up.
i know i'm stating the obvious, but the game ranks the grade first, then the time. and the green line means only that you finished 1000 levels BUT if the finishing grade is not GM then you'll enter the score board with the mastering time (and not the clear time), so i say that scoreboard is ok. i had same thing in tgm1 when i was getting all S9's. the top one was 10min but no green line, the other two were green lined but had worse time.
I just thought that when a player reached 999, their clear time became their mastering time regardless, and that orange lines were ranked above green lines were ranked above no lines.
This was played on 05/10/08. Does someone have any idea how this compares to the S2 rank I achieved in TGM? I haven't played this mode a lot. Maybe I could have done better. Interesting game especially the fact that its even more difficult than it predecessor.
You mean like waiting for two I pieces to appear immediatly after each other?. You would have to be a little lucky for them to come around at the right moment. So the score will increase faster if I do certain combos? Good to know. Is this also the case in TGM? I'll keep this in mind and thank you for the tip!
Thanks for making that clear. I misunderstood because it would make sense for clearing 2 tetrises back to back immediately to be subject for extra points. I don't think this is mentioned in the wiki.
i dunno, i wouldn't compare grades in TGM and TAP. because they are derived from different systems, like TAP grades are not related to your SCORE in any way, while in TGM grades are given for certain amount of SCORE only.
You make it sound so easy and it does look easy when you watch videos of the big guys. But when the gravity gets near and above 1G there is no room for amateurs. You have to think fast, act fast, keep a good overall view and above all keep your cool. Once I get near high gravity I start shaking like hell and it makes things that more difficult. Thanks for pointing that out! Somehow I didn't know there was a wiki page dedicated to TAP and the other games. All I have read is the TGM guide by PetitPrince. Good to know. Thanks! LMAO! I hesitated to click on the link at first. Wouldn't want to see the overhyped video again!!!
You can't score attack TAP like you can TGM. The whole grading system is set up in such a way that it rewards consistency throughout the whole game rather than just sheer number of line clears. The grade points, internal grades and the level multiplier all work together to make sure that the player will get only roughly two grade-ups per section, even if he's tetris/combo-attacking the game from the start. In TGM, it's possible to get S9 before level 700. In TAP, it's ridiculously difficult to get S9 before level 900. The fact that the grade point system involves "points" leads many to the misconception that it's a scoring system that you can maximize, when in reality it's a measure of skill that's incredibly hard to cheat or strategize around. Just stack cleanly and fix mistakes efficiently throughout and you'll be fine. For further illustration, this should be the ideal "grade curve" if you're playing a decently clean game: 000-099: 8, 7 100-199: 6, 5 200-299: 4, 3 300-399: 2 400-499: 1 500-599: S1 600-699: S2, S3 700-799: S4, S5 800-899: S6, S7 900-999: S8, S9
The only think you can "strategize" is S2-S3-S4. Once you reached S2, clear as many triples as you can in a very short range of time, it will give you S3 then S4 rather quickly.
I just got my 3rd M rank. That makes 2 within the last 12 tries or so. They are coming much easier now! I tend to have S8 entering section 900 these days. Still no new record, but hopefully soon...
Code: colour_thief------------M - 999 @ 08:38:63 - 03/13/08 4th M rank (second M of the day)! I'm much much more consistently passing the 0-500 portion... All my binge Doubles sessions seem to really be paying off!
