Jago well represent the french style..But I remember when I saw his very first videos, I did not appreciate so much..I like now, for example, how he can manage some "L" double rotation at DEATH 500..
In terms of tetris, I play this tetris version a lot: http://ccgi.gdward.plus.com/cgi-bin/tetris/index.php It also has deathmode. There is a link to the highscores at the bottom. At the highscore list, you can see the replays of the games at the right.
Just a bump to say I just got to level 920, with my time on track to be at least 5 seconds faster than my previous record.
First, congrats on your awesome time. Now, I was allowing these during death week, but Texmaster has, at the very least, incorrect ARE DAS charging logic which makes it not equivalent to TAP. In general, you'll find that charging DAS during ARE is easier in Texmaster by several frames. And for 300+, a few frames makes a big difference.
Do you know for sure that it's incorrect? I realise that DAS charging during ARE is very complex, and I would be surprised (and not to mention very impressed) if Texmaster had implemented it with total accuracy; but I have no evidence to support my suspicions. If you or anyone else has investigated Texmaster's ARE DAS charging thoroughly, I'd be very interested to hear the findings.
You should try the disable BG and disable sound cheat that LOst discovered in MAME, and you'll find that TAP suddenly plays a lot more like Texmaster, even if you have a PC which "should" be beefy enough to emulate the Psikyo SH-2. MAME has a few input issues which can't clearly be attributed to input lag, but are something more along the lines of the emulated system not being strong enough to handle everything at once. This would, by the way, also mean that PCB players have a clear advantage over MAME players. Anyway, try it; I think you'll be surprised at the difference. It's a bit like the difference between TGM1 with the default Zinc plugin and TGM1 with LOst's input plugin. It wouldn't surprise me if Texmaster actually got things right, but that MAME is simply providing us with an incorrect experience.
Anyway, if enough people want submit some sudden records, then we will have to create a specific leaderboard for it.. Kotetsu already did a very good score on sudden around 630, few days ago. If he is so confident currently, what is the reason that he doesn't jump back on the real DEATH mode ?? Nobody seem to be sure about the accuracy of texmaster, so I am strongly opposed to mix the two supports.. (And I don't say that because I could lose my 4th rank..) We must be very accurate and serious when we talk about a m rank at 2:57.. EDIT : 1111th post..
I'm not familiar with L0st's cheat so I can't speak as to it's effects. But the ARE DAS behaviour I'm talking about is something complex and intended by Arika, not some simple constant lag. I haven't tested Texmaster either... But it something so subtle and complex that I think occam's razor favours assuming it is guilty until otherwise proven. Even if stuff gets fixed, unless popular opinion is strongly to the contrary I think a TAP records thread should stay for TAP alone. If people really want, there's a lag-free Linux MAME floating around. The fact that there's no Windows or Mac equivalent has more to do with nobody bothering to make one than anything else.
Regarding the DAS charging during ARE: I've done a bit of testing, and although my methods were primitive, they were sufficient to prove with some certainty that Texmaster's DAS charging is not the same as TAP's. In Texmaster, it is possible to accumulate at least 2 extra units of DAS charge during ARE. It is also possible to charge DAS for at least part, if not all, of the line clear animation. Although I can't say for sure, I suspect that Texmaster actually allows DAS to be charged all the time from the moment of lockdown to the moment of spawn. This might seem like only a minor inaccuracy, but it definitely does make a difference, especially in Death mode. Over the course of a section, I would estimate that it's possible to shave approximately 2-3 seconds off your time.
as i understand it, you can get extra DAS charge if you time the starting of the charge just right on the original games. unless you are doing this, you will charge it faster on texmaster apparently.
