Back on topic, I agree with jujube's last two diagrams, particularly the first. The first diagram is principally a skimming maneuver that's the core of a set of techniques called Prophecy T-Spin Doubles.

If you have already understood the basic idea of T-Spin double bases and T-Spin Double overhangs, this is the next step to take your TDS game to the 8000 rating level.

i agree that things are more interesting with T-spins. at the same time, if you can counter garbage and downstack efficiently then you can defend against them. whatever type of player you are, i think the existence of T-spins makes you concentrate harder and get better and better at your style of play (or tempts you to open your mind and try something new).

And if you downstack with T-spins, you can be more effective in "dirty" garbage settings like hc5 because you can defend and attack at once.

yup, that's what i was getting at

they take a little more thought as well, tetris are so linear.

alright thanks, i've read a bunch of great ideas. so am I right in saying that there is not a viable way to recover off of a T-Spin without breaking the Back-to-Back? and How exactly would I get my rating to 8k? I'm currently playing at around the 7.3k mark.

    Two words. Game... shark.

What could one do with a GameShark without outright cheating? Would it let one turn the DAS up to 60 Hz and the line clear delay down to 10 frames?

    adjust the stored rank?

The rank is simply saved onto the cart itself, regardless of your wi-fi settings.

  11. You guys are morons. iCheat!

  12. Except that the Icheat sucks at recovering from garbage. You'll still lose to a T-spinning player.

  13. No you wouldn't. Not if you had any real speed or finesse. Aside from the fact that Tetris DS garbage is rarely that screwed up and can generally be tennis'd back pretty easily, you can make up for any slowness clearing garbage with the fact that you can send a lot of garbage lines quite easily while clearing it.

I'm pretty certain that any mid-7k player or above would be unbeatable if they had the I cheat.

  14. The issue was getting a ranking that high. The argument I was making was based on the fact that caffeine suggested the iCheat as a way to GET to that ranking. If you couldn't do it normally, you'd probably be beaten by players who attained that ranking without cheating. Though if a person is able to play fast, had finesse and is using the cheat, you're right.

Edit: Also, we're all taking caffeine's gameshark joke too seriously.

ICheat doesn't suck at recovering from garbage. People only lose with it when they insist on stacking for a b2b against a fast t-spinner. If someone with i cheat just drops an I in the lowest columm every time and plays quickly, they will not lose to an honest player.

  16. Fair enough. I retract my statement. I was wrong.

at any rate, iCheat doesn't sound like fun

  18. I tried using the iCheat against the CPU on level 5, and I lost about 10% of the time, so I think it would be possible to lose against speedy T-spinners.
