They've tended to use ELO with their console releases. TDS had an ELO-type, and so did TP(D). I think even TF has some sort of ELO since the leaderboards interpret rank and rating as one variable (i.e. a number from 0 to 19999).
but in tetris party it doesn´t use real elo...it was just adding fixed points where in tds it uses the other players elo for the algorithm. i want it to be like in tds.
Could be that it's just because you continually get siphoned away from people who aren't at your rank, but TF doesn't feel like ELO, or at least it doesn't feel like TDS. You get way more points from winning against someone ranked way below you than you used to in TDS. Plus you start from zero. I'd totally be buying this if I had a PS3
Actually, you start from 500. Pay attention you silly Brit :3 Anyway, it's not like TDS ELO, but it's still got something similar in there. I'm actually inclined to say that it takes some design specs from TrueSkill, because you earn the most points per win at the outset while it is trying to decide where you fall and then you earn less points as it becomes more sure of your rating.
u can buy a used ps3 for 150 or less. u might get a brand new ps3 for 150 at some after christmas sale. and there are lots of good games on it.
then don't play it u idiot! i recommend for singleplayer darksiders and for multiplayer modern warfare 2 and maybe black ops.
Geez, if you don't want to play games on a PS3, don't play games. It also plays DVDs, Blurays, and AVIs off your computer and runs Folding@home. Ethernet cable recommended for remote AVIs.
i got it. it's 70mb. singleplayer -marathon (complete lvl 15 to win) -variants (choose from 12 modes) -- origin (clear 40 lines with default tetris rules) -- treadmill (clear 40 lines in a matrix that shifts sideways) -- gravity (clear 40 lines with the added gravity effect) -- flood (clear 40 lines while the matrix fills from the bottom) -- ledges (clear 40 lines by placing tetriminos on the ledges) -- laser (clear 40 lines while staying under the laser) -- magnetic (locked) -- scanner (locked) -- split (clear 40 lines on both sides of a split matrix) -- chill (locked) -- flashlight (locked) -- radical (locked) -challenge (play against your or friends replays) multiplayer -marathon (complete lvl 15 to win, 1-4 playsers local) -variants (choose from 12 modes, 1-4 playsers local) -- origin (clear 40 lines with default tetris rules) -- treadmill (clear 40 lines in a matrix that shifts sideways) -- gravity (clear 40 lines with the added gravity effect) -- flood (clear 40 lines while the matrix fills from the bottom) -- ledges (clear 40 lines by placing tetriminos on the ledges) -- laser (clear 40 lines while staying under the laser) -- magnetic (locked) -- scanner (locked) -- split (clear 40 lines on both sides of a split matrix) -- chill (locked) -- flashlight (locked) -- radical (locked) -timed battle (try to knock out your friends within 2 minutes, 2-4 players local, 2-6 players online) -battle (knock out your friends to be the last man standing, try powerups for a new twist, 2-4 players local or online) -shared (clear lines with your friend using a shared matrix (2 coop players local or online) -team battle (pick your team partner and play against another 2 person team, 2 teams of 2 players local or online) -random online match (jump right into a randomly selected online match, random number of players online) controls for marathon: hold l1,l2,r1,r2 harddrop up left left right right down softdrop rotate counterclockwise x rotate clockwise o swap triangle i only played a game of marathon (instant #2 worldwide lol) and battle yet. game feels very fast and responsive. i am happy with it. trophies master (gold) finish all variants on lvl 15 and radical advanced (silver) complete all advanced feats achiever (silver) complete all career feats insane (silver) in origin clean lines 20, 10 and 1 in that order clear as water (silver) perform a bravo (clear your matrix) teamwork (bronze) clear at least 2 lines with a piece swapped to your in shared (additive) lockpick (bronze) unlock all variants giver (bronze) pass 100 lines to opponents on any multiplayer mode next! A lot of those variants sound like they're from the PSP version. For example, Flashlight is flashing semi-invisible like from Tetris Friends Survival with a "flashlight" effect where columns under the active piece are visible, Radical is 20G, etc..
I'm not sure if the release dates are different in terms of regions (since i'm from California), but I recently checked the playstation store and they still have the Tetris PS3 video released, but not the game. Also, didn't the developers of the game say that the game will be released around January 2011?
idk if january...but probably. it was just said "very early next year" on the us ps blog. obviously the release dates are different.
What's this "swap" business? Does that mean you can trade active pieces with your partner if you're playing on a team? And does anyone else find it highly amusing that even TTC is using the term "bravo" to refer to all-clears now?
It's out in Europe today. Only had time to play for 30 mins so just jumped straight into vs. Positives: Matchmaking was near instant, very quick to get into a game Um... trophies I guess Negatives: Goddamn I'd forgotten how unpredictable SRS wallkicks were. Really sucks to have to visually confirm any kind of kick before locking (floor kicks should not take priority over wall kicks ffs), though I guess this will get better as I mentally unlearn TGM's more reliable determinism May as well moan about the Guideline some more - fuck "SZ" starts and "SZSZ" in general Couldn't see multiplayer rating anywhere, not sure if it even exists or match makes based on it because... holy shit random pubbies are bad, even with my not playing an SRS game in over 5 years and stumbling through misdrops, none of my matches were even close. also couldn't see an option for 1v1 only - all my matches were 3/4 player free for all Add me guys, I don't want to play with retards. PSN: Taratang (just say youre from tc or something)
"and it irks me time and time again when ppl call the gameboy tetris the definitive tetris... *rolls eyes*" I still have my original gameboy and tetris and no offence but I must say it is the best and most enjoyable version ever (due in part to playing it on the actual gameboy). I am still going to buy the ps3 one though.
negative: this is not tgm fucking tgm snobs. tetris ds is more enjoyable than tgm any day. gb tetris is horrible compared to tds. (it was my first tetris in 1989 btw) i added u taratang. also...holy shit at your lvl 20 on psn...i thought i was bad at 13.
