Your hand hurts from holding? o.o How much do you hold lol. I only started playing Tetris seriously on the DS, so DS Lite is what I'm most comfortable with right now. I found Wiimote incredibly annoying to use though, mostly because of the position of hold. Maybe I never gave it enough of a chance, but I definitely like Classic Controller better, even though the diagonal soft-dropping can mess me up. Took me forever to learn how to play on a keyboard too >_>
yeah, my issues are posture related. i have scoliosis and actually just went through quite a bit of physical therapy to help with back pain. this is how i figured out it was actually tetris that gets my shoulder. I do alot of typing at work, it adds a bit to the issues I'm sure. i tested tetris three times, taking week long breaks and then picking it back up... i have to practice some moderation when i do play. it's okay ,i like other games also. tetris is just that game that you can always come back to, no matter what, again and again. it's always fun and never gets old.
Yeah, my hand hurts from holding on the DS Lite. It's not like I'm swapping every piece, but I think my hand would hurt just from holding my hand in the awkward position to keep my finger over the shoulder button no matter how infrequently I used it. I found switching the hold button to B on the Wiimote instead of A made it much more natural to hold with. Tetris really does never get old, so moderation is hard. Sometimes I go months without playing at all, because I'm scared if I play that first game I just won't be able to stop myself from constantly wanting to play it. Worst case, take a break and play a game in your head to give your body a break.
Got my T-Party Marathon time below 6 minutes, yay! I'm not too sure how I suddenly got my time down so much lately, because I tried doing speed runs the first couple of days I had the game and felt like I was really fighting to go fast and was only getting around 7:40. It seems like maybe it's a matter of being used to the delays between the pieces so you can move at the right time without throwing yourself off, because it also seems like I'm having an easier time hard dropping to the last level now that I'm feeling in synch with the timing. I still haven't put in a clean run on a speed run, so maybe I can still improve my time a little and get it a bit closer to the real speed demons.
i need to get me a classic controller.. its so weird with the wii mote.. sometimes i have to switch the pieces with my right tumb..
what stick do you have? all this stick talk has me curious. I saw this stick: http://www.hori.jp/us/products/wii/wii_ ... index.html it's cheap, and you can put a better stick in it. http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179535 I don't know how much it will help with my shoulder. it's the rotate arm that gets the pain and playing on a keyboard will do it also.
Yep, that one. Which I would've done, if I actually played Tetris Party longer than the week I spent playing it only to realise the game sucks. If there's ever another Wii game that plays well with an arcade stick that I end up spending considerable time playing, I'll swap the stick and buttons. But for now, my Fighting Stick Wii is mainly gathering dust. Well, if you get Sanwa buttons, you won't need to actively press the buttons. They're so sensitive that just resting your finger on a button will trigger it. Should help against tense playing.
i use a program called wiiji, it's a joystick emulator for wiimote and OS X (not keystrokes) it works great with mame, and now i finally have texmaster running right on my box. i'm thinking modding one of these would be more useful for myself than the HRAP 3 as i have a wii... thanks for the tip on the buttons, sounds interesting.
Buy LoZ: Twilight Princess, but don't play the main mission. Instead, use the hidden feature that lets you install Homebrew Channel using a malformed save file on an SD card. From there, you can run Lockjaw in VisualBoyAdvance GX or Tetramino (which has had updates in the past weeks) in FCE Ultra GX.
tetris is fun with a stick! it makes playing at fast speeds so much better. (game speed that is, it's hard for me to force speed) right now its harder for me at slow speeds tho. i can't wait to pop a proper stick in here. how different are the sanwa sticks??? i don't go to the arcade too often, and when i do i stick to pinball.
I store very little state when I post. I answer questions as they come, not feeling a need to remember to whom I have said what. Had you said "If there's ever another Wii game with Nintendo WFC that plays well with an arcade stick" that would have reminded me. In that case, does Dr. Mario Online Rx work?
Night and day. The spring is much lighter, and there's virtually no dead zone. 'Fraid not. I bought Dr. Mario just to support Arika, but I don't actually play it.
cool, i just ordered the sanwa. in the mean time i'll use this stick, then when i get the new one i'll appreciate it even more! this stick is more fun then a gamepad. i'm going to hold off on the buttons until i open this thing up and see which will fit best, there are lots of choices.
The buttons are a nonstandard size, and any replacement buttons (be it Sanwa, Seimitsu or something else) will be standard size 30mm. So either way, you'll have to use an edge file.
there are 30mm and 24mm, as well as a shallower depth buttons if i went seimitsu. the sanwa's sound a little too deep for the chassis. you can also get the same buttons with threads and a mounting nut. http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/pag ... tons.shtml i'll decide when i open it up, i could open it and check now, but meh.. i'll wait for the stick it shouldn't be too long.
24mm is meant for use as start buttons, and won't fit the Fighting Stick (the holes are too big for 24mm).
Don't you guys have problems with pieces swerving if you play with a stick? Seems easier to drop pieces with a D-pad to me.
A stick where the restrictor has been turned to 4-way doesn't mean it doesn't register diagonals, it just means it "hooks" into the up,down, left, right and not the standard diagonals (and there isn't as much of a "window" for it to register diagonals). buuut that will make it a bit easier to play Tetris though... But there still will be misdrops, at least when you're new to the stick.
