Kaillera is the only way I know to play TGM games online. It's fun, but shouldn't be taken seriously because the lag is pretty crippling. There's always just playing with two people on one PC, if you have someone else to play with.
i think we need ggpo technology. although, when i used to play kaillera a lot, with the right settings, server, and opponent, i got some pretty lag-free games.
What I don't get about GGPO is why they have "GGPO technology" in the first place. They don't run on magic and pixie sticks. Hoarding whatever tricks they use is a somewhat large disservice to the majority of gamers... Which is to say, people who don't play the small handful of games they support.
It doesn't help that Mame++ has three frames of input lag before you even get online. The fact that TAP can be quite resource hungry also adds extra trouble. If you're playing someone who lives in the same general area, then it can be quite good. It's only when you start playing people who live on other continents that the lag really builds up. I think the best server myself and Digital could find had around 200ms total lag between us.
it's hard to put into words because the system is so foreign to me. but start a heboris 20g game with DRS and keep left or right held down while you repeatedly hit the "down" key to lock. the pieces will spawn as fast as you can repeat that keypress.
I haven't looked into the Cultris rotation system much but when i set the block initial postion to the standard tetris scheme and then try to play it, it is completely akward. Like I can't play the game unless i use defaults and i've been playing that game a lot. So i don't think it rotates the same as SRS but i could be wrong about that. Does Tetris DS use SRS? i can't remeber but Cultris doesn't feel like TDS. As far as Cultris 2 goes i don't think it's going to be a Dr.Mario clone with 4-block pills, sorry tepples. They said the game engine is supposed to be more flexible this time around. All i want to see is a team battle implemented and maybe a better balanced line sending system so the fast people aren't screwed over so much.
basically, configure the tetrominoes's initial orientation to look like those of tetris ds (or any other srs game) and you've got srs, save for the fact all the 3x3 tetrominoes spawn once closer to the right (which is why i can't play cultris) and no wall kicks and stuff like that.
hi all, at www.freenet.de there is a version similar to tetris. the field is not 10 but 12 cells wide. up to 6 players can play in one game/room. for a "3" the opponents get 1 line added and for "4" 2 lines. the main problem is that the website is in german and you have to register first or make an account. here are some pictures multi and a solo videoclip http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=gkiQORc1mko
If the DAS is ok, and the rotation system isn't awful, that actually seems like a pretty decent version. Garbage levels seem a bit low though. If you got two good players I'd imagine it could go on for a while.
my first impressions: DAS: quite fast repeat, a bit too long charge. but it has a flaw: if you press rotate during das, DAS is stopped. rotations: wall-kicks, but no floorkicks graphics: high quality, very nice effects.
