you don't like mario kart? i liked it before the hackers took it over, but i hear they fixed a lot of that. I was in the 9000's for a long time.
I liked Mario Kart on the Super NES, N64, and DS, but I dislike the Wii iteration, which I find too dependent on item chance. I mean seriously, when you get hit by two blue shells in one lap...
i disagree with the unbalanced items. item skill is necessary, and blue shells can be countered. many players use their items at the wrong time. you can counter a blue shell with a banana if you know how excitebots pwns mkwii
Maybe it is my competitive nature, but Mario Kart for the Wii makes me rage. I liked the DS version because snaking let you use skill to get an advantage. In Mario Kart for the Wii I find the items to make the game not fun at all, unless you are the guy in last place who gets a bullet bill and a star or something and ends up in first on the final lap. However, the online matches for me on Mario Kart for the Wii had no lag that I noticed which makes online player infinitely better than Brawl online play. Not that I enjoy Brawl that much to begin with.
(RA) Red Star, did you ever get into the 9000's on mkwii? granted if the room is full of 9000 racers lucks going to start taking more effect, but it takes skill get get there. no one is getting 9000 VR outta luck. but meh, mkwii is old news now. excitebots doesn't have this item element like mkwii does.
I must confess, I've never understood why MK is so popular. I've only played the SNES version. Does anyone else find that they're getting more play time out of the WiiWare titles than the retail releases? I played Wii Sports for about a week before I got bored with it. I have Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl, and WarioWare, but I hardly play them. The thing I hate is when they make you waste time watching stupid cut scenes with stupid fancy graphics that you have to wait to be read from the disc sometimes. So much easier to just load up a WiiWare title and switch between them.
I have a lot of games i really like, and a few i hate. wiiware games are like filler.. i play them when i'm trying to waste 15 or 20 minuets. skate it on the balance board has been getting tons of playtime for me. 3 months of nearly daily play. and I still pop it in once a week or so now and i've had it nearly 6 months. without the bb i think it would kinda blow. shaun white snowboarding is fantastic with the bb ssx blur was great. wario shake it -- great house of dead overkill is really fun multiplayer excite truck got a lot of play but excitebots blows it away. mario kart for competitive online play (until the hackers took it over) those are the top games for me, metroid was ok, zelda ok, galaxy was cool. in the end i like puzzles and racing games best.
i think it's awkward. i got the bb for skate it, and shaun white. I'm hoping for a new 1080 and another ssx soon!! hopefully a new THPS now that neversoft is out of the loop. thps has been getting worse and worse over the years. i like those kinds of games. i played so much THPS 3 in my life, it could almost rival tetris for playtime. I can also use the bb as a midi foot peddle with my computer.
It's fun, but not at all serious. There aren't many options/play modes available, no multiplayer, and you're stuck on a small board with oversized (irregular) pieces. Taken as a full game, it would be terribly disappointing. Taken as a simple novelty, it's quite neat.
Does anyone have any WiiWare games to recommend? I'm mainly looking for something family/kid friendly, but if you've played a really great WiiWare game, I'd like to know about it. I currently only have a few (TP, World of Goo, Pop, and Defend Your Castle), but I need to spend my newly acquired Wii points on something.
That happens in MKDS too. Sometimes 3. Sometimes I get so sick of blue shells that I just suicide off somewhere (jumping of a cliff, etc). It feels quicker.
blue shells i was ok with, the made me go from 2nd to first many times, and many times in first they didn't do enough damage to slow you down. once you break away you can get really far away while the rest of the pack battles it out. As for wii ware I stick to the puzzles for the most part, these aren't so family friendly. Groovin' Blocks is cool. columns with items, and it's rhythm based. drop on the beat to build/keep your multiplier. The three art style games are OK. I like cubello the best of these. Also bit.trip beat is really cool. alien crush returns (pinball) is so/so good mechanics but only a few tables. then there's always classics like DK Jr and Pac Man
i gotta bump this to say excitebots is freaking fun. if you like arcade racers it's a must have. i've been playing non-stop! don't worry I'll be back to tetris soon. Actually I popped heboris on the other day and made it into the 900's for my first time.
a pc clone of cubello would be awesome! with highscore lists and maybe some sort of online cersus play (adding cubes to your opponent if you score a longer chain) and - maybe some sort of active control over the rotations would be fantastic. imagine you can control the rotations of te 3d-clump using wasd ...
