Totally off-topic argument here, but what? Greenhouse gases and climate-change I can understand people rubbishing under the whole 'correlation does not imply causation' argument, but unlike Climate Change, the science behind Ozone destruction by CFC's is well understood, and the statistics back it up quite heavily. Since CFC's were created there was a noticeable decline in global Ozone levels. A decline which is now slowing quite well since the worldwide ban of their use. The holes above the North and South poles aren't entirely due to us. Polar stratospheric clouds are a massive reason for the holes in the Ozone at the poles, but CFC's are still damaging, and I'd still hold them at least partially responsible for the decline in Ozone levels. And even if they're not, so what? If we stop using them and we're wrong, we're a bit out of pocket but ultimately not much worse for wear. If we continue using them and we're wrong, levels of skin cancer will skyrocket and thousands of people will die. It's a pretty obvious gamble, if you even perceive one to be there.
It sucks. The first post you made is complete gibberish. With the second post, while it is vaguely possible to make out the meaning from the sentence you sent, it's written in the most impolite and rude way possible, due to the translator being a piece of crap. DO NOT use machine translators for writing messages directed at human beings. But more importantly: How come you knew sure the person you were talking to was Jin8, and not someone else? How come you knew he was not lying about the requirements? How come you knew he was not lying about his identity? How come you knew he actually knew what he was talking about? How come you knew that machine translation "works"? How come you knew that you were not misunderstanding anything that was told to you, despite so many things being able to go wrong? What proof do you have? Did you do any double-checking before posting at all? Don't attempt to answer each of the above questions individually; we know what the answers are. The internet is full of lies and misunderstandings. Hell, even I may be lying right this very moment. If you don't attempt to back your statements up with hard evidence - especially if your claim directly goes against what's been generally accepted - then no one can sympathize with you when it turns out you're wrong.
Hmm, Ghett0, would you please post the original chat log in Japanese? I know even that is not conclusive proof for some here, but we're only going in circles at the moment. Unfortunately, I will have to end the discussion if you don't have that bit of information.
It amuses me that after being banned from #arika, and being on a tight leash on TC, ghett0 resorts to bothering Japanese players...
He already linked to it: http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~tetris_holi ... senger.cgi But take a look at who gave him the 4 tips. And that last line is just hilarious, even I can tell that nobody can read that...

Is it really that difficult to send an E-mail to ARIKA and ask them for the details? One of the Japanese members could do it. Or is this information top secret? Wouldn't a polite Japanese E-mail to the company work out? I'm just wondering. I guess it wouldn't be a problem if it were that easy though. EDIT: That's it! Okay I'm going to look for Fata Grape for sure now! With it being mentioned everywhere on the forums and IRC channel you really made me want to taste it! @Ghett0: Is that you in the picture?
It's probably secret since it's all about making money and the games are in arcade machines which you have to put money in. Would probably be different if it was a retail game. They still want people to be interested in the game, and it would be less interesting if all the secrets were unveiled. Some people maybe plays it partly to figure out how it works? And Arika does not give support on games through their mail, as mentioned on their website.
Intriguing... Thanks for your reply. I'm not all that familiar with the arcade scene so I didn't know figuring out the game mechanics was part of the game. I think it's just crazy. As if it the game in itself isn't maddening enough. Well it will indeed keep the pros coming for more!
I think Arika in particular likes to keep certain things mysterious about their games, even their console releases. I've got the title of grandmaster in Everblue 2! That was pretty well hidden, and very zen. I've also got Technic Beat, but I'm nowhere near grandmaster in that one... It's a very deep game. I can, uh, pass all the songs. That's good right?
Thanks for pointing that out. I checked the games you mentioned. I haven't played any of their games yet. The TGM series is how I got to know them. You mean like there is also a ranking system in those games where the ultimate goal is getting the Grand Master rank? By the way earlier today I visited the ARIKA website (Englsih version). I found some contact info and send them an E-mail to ask them about the grading system in TI. This was before I read Meroigo's reply. I didn't read anywhere that they don't give support for their games. Well my efforts will probably be in vain, but at least I tried. I'll let you know if they reply to my mail.
In Everblue 2 you simply earn random "titles" for accomplishing certain tasks. It's not really a grading system or anything, but it is most certainly a reference to TGM. The game itself is a fairly relaxing diving exploration game that is definitely not hardcore in the slightest. Technic Beat is an arcade style music game, and it has a full on grading system where you get tests and whatnot. I'm not sure what the ultimate goal is, but I remember seeing a screenshot in the instruction manual showing someone had attained the rank of "Death Master". Really! I'm sort of assuming they must have slipped grandmaster in there as well.
For some reason, I hear "Grand Master" whenever Fox McCloud does his limit break^W^W Final Smash in the North American version of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Mihara is about the most fervently secretive guy in the industry when it comes to secrets in the games he made. If it doesn't get figured out, he'll just take it to his grave.
He should leave some sort of epic treasure hunt for the knowledge in his will or something. The last puzzle game of Mihara.
All programs have source code though... I'm sure when we're all married with grandkids, we'll know everything
