Not one, not two, but three bravos in TAP Master big mode before the end of the first section. Full disclosure: I was using a cheat to force constant big mode so I wouldn't have to re-key in the code every game. Gold AC, silver CO...
I'm still decent at this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AztYaYClu7U&feature=channel_video_title NES 901,033 bout dang time i hit 900k edit: 924,440 MUCH worse performance though believe it or not edit: 946,401... the times, they are a changin!
so today, I tried tetris DX for the GBC (or gba, whatever), once I reached 998XXX I thought "okay, that shit takes toooooo much time, I'll only counterstop the score" Tetris, tadaaaa, 1 xxx xxx WTF !!!! Kay, you can't counterstop the score, I'll counterstop the number of lines cleared. I'm playing that shit to counterstop it and I will counterstop something this evening ! Loooong time after that, lines 998. Tetris, tadaaaaa, 1002 WTF !!! Made an all clear to conclude this game and trusted myself I will never try to counterstop a game before checking if it's actually possible
I thought the same thing... I still haven't maxed the game out. I've gotten close to half way, though.
That's what I thought while going to bed "meh, 6 more hours and I'm sure it would have been counterstopped "
The guy who ran blockstats.org... I forget his name, had a photo of him maxing out the score in TDX. Took him 4502 lines IIRC.
man, so my estimation was right, since I played around 1h15 to get this score, I'd need 6 hours to max out that shit hahaha no way I'm going for this
Counterstop means a numerical counter stops incrementing, which usually means maxed out. That counter can be a score counter, line counter, or timer. Generally, score counters are allotted only a limited amount of digits, once they all hit 9 (like 99999999 in case of 8 digits) they stop incrementing (although sometimes they roll over to zero, start counting hexadecimal digits outside the numerical bitmap font, or start counting backwards, sometimes with a minus in front, or with a garbage bitmap character acting as the minus). Cyberguile assumed that Tetris DX used three digits for the line counter (maxing out at 999), but it rolled over to 1000 instead, indicating that you'd have to clear at least 10 times that amount of lines to counterstop it.
