It's official, my Logitech wireless MX 3200 keyboard sucks big time. I played on my brother's PC again with a Logitech Desktop Navigator keyboard and managed to beat my old time in a few tries. While the TPM on my keyboard is around 90, I get 100 on my brother's PC easily. After pushing myself for a while I got a nice time in the 40 lines challenge and I feel I could have done even better if I tried longer. I also managed to easily improve my 180 seconds challenge score and 100 lines time.

I don't think I ever got this close to you Meroigo. ^^ I was even confident I could do better than your time. You have been warned! :p For a moment I hesitated to post now and wanted to post after I get a better time than yours. But I think it's only fair to give you a chance to react seeing you believe you could get a sub 50 seconds time. ^^ Now I feel I could get sub 50 seconds before the end of the year.

well this is nothing like some of the top times on the leaderboard, but I need motivation to get under a minute. So the shame of this mediocre 01:02.43 will hopefully help me get there....

    I use a joystick for my 39sec.

  10. Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

Most on the LJ scoreboard keyboard. General opinion is that gamepad is slower, but it may be easier for some.

I wasn't even pushing myself. This was one of a few warm up games I played to get up to speed for some 40 lines action. I'm very happy with the progress I've made the last few weeks! ^^ I can get sub 1 minute and over 100 tpm quite often if I'm concentrated. Had a time close to my record too. It shouldn't be long before I improve a little more.

Tried switching to SRS and can't get sub 60 seconds yet...

    49.63 40 Lines - KevinDDR / Kevin Birrell

  15. Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

Here's a little experiment that i did to see what my theoretical fastest 40 lines time would be using a gamepad controller(ps2 controller with usb converter).

after a dozen tries or so using the iCheat(bag featuring all lines for those not familiar) feature i made 40 lines in about 46 seconds.
    http://rapidshare.com/files/157815611/icheat_46sec.ljm.html(LJ ver. 45)

i feel it would be impossible for me to achieve a faster time(+/- some variance) with the normal bag instead, and all else the same.

Not sure why i'm posting this diversion, but maybe others would want to try and see how much faster a run they could achieve using iCheat compared to their regular best time.

    Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

Nice improvement KevinDDR and rednefed! ^^

@rednefed: Thanks for beating my 180 seconds score so fast! ;)

I have a new lj 40 lines time of 0:55.56. I'll post it later when I get access to the PC where I achieved the new personal best.

Yes it'd be very interesting to know whether someone was using gamepad, keyboard or joystick to play the game (or any other way I forgot to mention). You should also indicate when someone uses the DS version of the game.

I'll try to do this as well later this evening when I have some time. But it'd be very very hard to get close to this time because you already know what tetrominoes to use and where to place them. Especially if you have some difficulty keeping track of the next pieces and making efficient use of it. Still should be a nice speed exercise to test your limits though.

  18. Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

It took some doing for me to beat my time using iCheat. If 8-way movement hadn't been switched on, I don't think I would have been able to do it. I had to hold left or right and hammer down to stack up along the edges, rotate-> drop several times, rotate+left->drop several times, repeat. End result? 30.06s, at 199.95 TPM.

What this reminds me is that making quick no shift/single tap placements in the center can help reduce my final time. I also might want to get used to using 8-way to save DAS charge, but I don't think I'm going to tackle that just yet.
