"ACE-ARS2," Death 0, 40 lines 53:23. This time my active time to actual time TPM difference was 70!
I tried some 0G 40 Lines, and I am at around 60 seconds. My 0G finesse is pretty poor, but the artificial conditions a fast 40 lines time imposes (no ARE, faster DAS than TGM Master modes, etc.) might screw me up. But finesse for finesse's sake is good to build. I want to consistently do the first section in TGM games in under 1:05, the cutoff for Gm in TAP. My best times in Heboris are about 58 seconds with 3 previews and hold - Amnesia has it down to 53-odd seconds with 1 preview and no hold, so I can certainly learn some more 0G tips and tricks to improve my speed.

    Finally under 1 minute! ^^

Only differnce with before is that I used 200 ms DAS.

Yesterday I managed to convince my brother to give Tetris a try and I installed Texmaster and LJ on his computer. The above setting are what I set up for him to start off with. Earlier today I saw him struggling in the 40 lines challenge with times over 2 minutes and I wanted to show off a little. One of the first tries was immediately a new personal best of 1:03:xx. I forgot about the lower DAS and thought it might be because of his keyboard or something. Not long after I narrowly went sub 60 seconds and realized it was because of the much slower DAS than I normally use... Unfortunately the record option was not on, but I hope to improve a little more soon and post a replay.

great job Ai. isn't it fun to watch someone play for the first time to see how far you've come? it really puts things in perspective.

    Thanks! ^^

Oh yes. I tried to be as helpful as possible so as not to irritate him. It definitely felt good when I saw how amazed he was with how I played. And he still can't believe that there are people out there with sub 30 seconds times. Hopefully he'll keep playing. This way I'll have someone to play Doubles with. [IMG]

I'm going to try and get a sub 60 seconds time on DS too.

  11. Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

I can't break 50 seconds in Lockjaw. The input feels a lot "stickier" than Heboris C++. Sort of like TGM1 without Lost's plugin, except not as bad. Even with the same settings

ARE 10, DAS 9, Line Clear 1 (any way to make it 0 in Lockjaw?), Lock 30

I have trouble making 50 seconds in LJ while I did a 45.xx in Heboris easy. My best was 51 seconds as quoted thus:

Argh. I can get sub-50, it's a matter of tweaking some settings (DAS?) to match Hebo's smoothness.

I hate 20G on Lockjaw. Can't put my finger on what it is, but something just feels wrong for me.

If you're playing on a keyboard, make sure allow diagonals is on.

This sounds like the exact opposite of what I'd like to do.

    Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

In Lockjaw, if you have diagonals turned off and you press diagonally, the input preprocess uses the direction data from the last frame where you didn't press diagonally.

    Press left: Registers left
    Press left+up: Registers left
    Press up: Registers up

Early versions of diagonal protection would register nothing during frames where diagonal is pressed, but then I got too many accidental hard drops when I'd press up (registers up and hard drops), up+right (registers nothing), then up again (registers up and hard drops again).

  16. Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

I use Instant DAS. Having diagonals turned on makes it likely that DAS will stay charged when I hard drop, even if I didn't want that piece to rocket to the wall.

Also, could you change the input code to use the direction data for the most recent key struck? I think that would be the best solution. I sometimes accidentally Instant DAS a piece into the wrong wall and hard drop since I didn't lift the left/right key soon enough.

    Press left: Register left
    Press left+down: Register down

EDIT: I actually played a game with diagonals on and it didn't seem too bad, so I'll keep it that way for a bit. However, I find that Tetris Friends and its diagonal motion "feature" frequently leave me with my pieces shifted one column left or right from spawn, which can lead to some scary situations if I'm not paying attention.

  17. Re: [Lockjaw] 40 Lines & 180 Seconds

Turning diagonals on makes it feel about half-fixed. I am sub-50 now.
