For you Xbox 360 owners - Tetris Splash on XBLA.. now

  1. From the looks of it, the garbage goes to whichever opponent has a red border on their playing field.

  2. Ah, I was looking for some marker but I didn't see that.. good call.

The garbage target's gamer pic also appears in the upper right of your play area.

I'm not sure what path the target follows- it seems to jump at random every 5 seconds rather than going through a steady rotation.

I see you're #1 for score with like 56k- WTF is that? I'm confused.

I'm not sure how it works actually... I slipped down to number two today, a guy got 120-odd thousand points; it was down to 1 on 1 and the other person was lagging, so he got to play forever (i.e., a glitch)...

I thought it was based on win rate, but it turns out it's probably just actual score... That would mean that being #1 in ranked matches isn't really an indication of skill, just an indication of how good you are at making games drag on forever :p

  6. Yeah, it's an accumulation of your score in each game. I have like ten minutes logged, and I'm ranked like eighth or something, while most of the guys have a few hours. So that probably means most people aren't making T-Spins and stuff.

The only leaderboards I'm going to care about are 40 lines and maybe Trueskill.

It's not an accumulation- it seems to be your highest score in a single ranked match.

  8. oh really? i didn't realize that.

  9. Some dam fine matches they where!
Lol, its the best! It always takes them at least 3 matches to figure out what the hell is going on.
Yeah, I am hearing alot of people say its "a game of luck". WTF?

But over all I am loving this game, its so much fun to play [IMG]

Other than the Random Generator, which involves a lot less luck than most of the randomizers used before 2001, what is based on luck in Tetris?

  11. garbage

  12. it's one of the two reasons why some people reject or dismiss tetris's depth. 1. it's too simple, and 2. it's all luck, since i remember playing it back in the day and not getting the i sometimes.

Would it be hard to, say, direct them to pin eight .com /luck ?

  14. Lol, I love it [IMG]

  15. oh man, i'm so using this. thanks tepples. it's like even though i tell them we get the same pieces, they don't get it, but i think this is perfect.

does anyone know how the garbage arrangement works in TS? in TOJ it seems like if you get a lot very quickly then all the holes will be in the same column. this seems like a fair system to me. on the other hand, if you get a little garbage at a time and the holes are scattered then you can make combos to keep yourself in the game. if TS is anything like this then i'm not sure you can blame anything on bad luck.

edit: and if someone thinks they're being targeted in a 6 player game they can only point the finger at the player who finishes 5th.

  18. Just for Splash? what about the other X360/XBLA games, for which that would rock so hard for?

  19. I looked at that a long time ago, and I couldn't figure out if you could customize the controls. I read it was set to wasd. Maybe if you combined it with a macro keyboard, you could become god of Splash.
