If you want to ask me, then I didn't stop playing Lockjaw because it was "too fast", I moved to Heboris months ago because it was even faster than Lockjaw.
Nice. Slow DAS is not my specialty but I'll try and beat that record. Unfortunately, I'm on a roll in Death mode on TAP so I'll have to answer your record a little later.
i still play both--i just haven't been able to get under 40secs in LJ for a while, so i haven't been updating. also, when i was working with toj in beta, i was trying to set up a macro to combat the horrible horizontal movement, and i felt like i was running into a wall, wherein the sideways speed never exceeds the autoshift, and the only benefeit to using a macro would be eliminating the slow DAS. but even then, you're no better off than just learning to tap to all placements. deffinately my number 1 gripe. so annoying. anyone else do any work on this?
when (if) i get an account, i will definitely tackle the macro DAS issue. "That rank one dude is nice nice." unlikely. a twenty-one second completion with this type of das would mean he was pressing over twenty keys a second, which to my knowledge has never been demonstrated before on a keyboard (even for record speed typists). if he used macros and had really good finesse, he'd be on par with polly, which is saying a lot. in short, he may've just slowed the game down.
keyboard king nor ahk is going to cut it. wow this sucks. rsi, here i come! edit: anyone else realize that for 40 lines, all singles is the way to go? edit2: well that was exciting! i think i like this game. it's like srsized tnet (but with lame targeting and garbage randomizer). anyone know how the combo to garbage system works? i'm guessing everything else is like tds.
gungho seems to be having some issues right now. i've successfully reached step 2 in the registration process a few times in the past week, but my user ID was never created correctly and i wasn't able to login. your ID should be [username]@[3 alphanumeric chars] for it to work. i still haven't gotten an e-mail from gungho confirming my account was created.
In a 4p game with kotetsu, Lardarse, and jujube yesterday, we discovered the option where the winning player can set match conditions. It's quite interesting to have field presets. It sort of gives each game a little more freshness and appeal.
i was playing a multi vs match today and the winners were selecting field presets that seemed much easier to deal with than the ones we saw last night. do you think it was an "easy" setting? twice i was able to clear the field with about 4 pieces, as the game started with a solid stack except for the 2 center columns being empty. something wasn't quite right about it.
In a vs. match, the host can select from one of several groups of field presets, then at the start of the match, the server picks a random one from that group and everybody starts with it. I think there's two groups of presets designed to make it easy to make a big REN combo right out of the gate; that's probably the one you saw.
Speaking of REN: The garbage system in TOJ builds on that of recent guideline games (0/1/2/4 for normal line clears, 2/4/6 for t-spins, +1 for back to back), but also gives bonuses for combos (called REN). 1ren (the second clearing action in an combo) gives no bonus. 2ren and 3ren each give +1 line of garbage. 4ren and 5ren give +2. 6ren gives +3. I haven't checked this yet, but it's likely that 7ren is +3, and 8ren and 9ren (if it counts that high) give +4 It also appears to give a garbage bonus for clearing the pit (called a "perfect clear"), but it is currently unknown how much garbage this sends...
awesome lardo, that's just what i wanted to know about. and yeah it'll go that high, i think i got a 14 ren the other day. so it waits until you make a clear that doesn't ren to send garbage all at once? what if you make a t-spin, then follow with ren?
40 lines - 1:33:687 Challenge - 212252 Marathon - 265472 Now my fingers are cramped BTW. My ingame nick is Webby ...
simplified, tspins > tetris > triples > doubles >|= ren. b2b adds value, and lesser the clear, the faster. other than that, it doesn't matter what type of tspin you get.
