Not quite that long but it's fairly close, yeah. Don't quote me on this, but I think ordinary ARE time is 30 frames (half a second) and time between pieces when clearing a line is 40 frames of animation with 30 frames of ARE, so over a second.
I'd like to congratulate Lost, who yesterday achieved GM. He used to be something of a "<a href="http://www.bannister.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=001709;p=0">famously</a>" poor player, but he's come a really long way in the last year. His accomplishment is extra special because the only Tetris he has ever really played has been TGM. That's right, he skipped out on GB Tetris and all the rest, learning the basics in TGM in 20g mode. He may not be the best, but he certainly deserves some respect for that. Congratulations!
