WTF! LOL I checked the videos on youtube and it's very weird to say the least! I'll try to check it out this weekend if possible. By the way nice website and I have found a bunch of interesting lockjaw videos on youtube!
I modified one of the "practice mode" replays that was stored on my end (did NOT come from me, mind you) to see what the time the player took to clear 100 lines was. 00:48:70 yes, that's an average of over 2 lines a second. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FZQ7PSBO the wait settings were insanely high-end - 0 DAS, 0 ARE, 0 Line Clear Delay, 0 Flash Frame, 5 Lock Delay, and 20G - and there actually some mistakes made in it. the person that did this is also the same person to have made a glitching Devil-Quake replay (doesn't work properly 1/2 the time) on my computer. uncertain as to whether or not it's TAS. (I don't watch the person play)
the MINI one right before before netplay was added. and in brutal honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if it is TAS. Still mindblowing to see that kind of speed, though.
This is from the DS version of the most recent lj. Seeing as I'm almost three times slower than the best players in the 40 lines challenge, this result is not really surprising. I'm about three times slower than the top rated players here as well. This particular challenge was more difficult because one needs to focus for a longer time. My first few times where aroung the 4 minute mark, but it didn' t take long before I started getting times around 3:40 consistenly. As promised I also tried the 100 lines challenge on the Gameboy version of Tetris. I needed to adapt a little because of the slower DAS. -_-' My first few times were around 9:30. And then I figured out that I needed to stack higher in order to improve my time. Just as coulour_thief pointed out to me in another thread not so long ago. I also tried to clear more lines at once in order to avoid the line clear delays as much as possible. Instantly my times became a lot better. My best time so far is 08:37:67 and was played on 05/01/2008. My sister timed the games with a stopwatch. I may try some more in the coming days, but I think I'll be spending more time getting used to TGM. The few games I played I got rank 1 and around the 300 mark. Hope to get an S rank soon. Still need to improve my TPM a lot more. Right now I can get close to 80 if I try really hard. About a month ago when I first tried lj my TPM was around 40 so I made a lot of progress. I hope to achieve 100 TPM in the not so distant future. With exams coming up I hope I can still find enough time to improve a little before the summer holidays. I'm sorry for my long posts. I do this in order to track my progress.
Code: Stopped Marathon on 2008-05-11 at 19:39 (Well: 10x20, Enter: Above, Speed: Zero, ARE: 0 ms, Randomizer: History 6 rolls of Tetrominoes) (Hold: Off, Rotation: SRS initial, Lock: Never, Deep: Off) (Line clear: 0 ms Naive, Gluing: Sticky, Drop score: None, T-spin: 3-corner T, Garbage: None) (DAS: 100 ms Instant, Soft drop: 1G Slide, Hard drop: Lock, Shadow: Color, Next: 8) Played for 1:32.31 (active 1:19.83) Played 254 tetrominoes (165.08 per minute, 190.89 per active minute) Pressed 785 keys (3.09 per tetromino) Made 100 lines (single: 52; double: 13; triple: 2; home run: 4; T single: 0; T double: 0; T triple: 0) Sent 33 garbage (21.44 per minute) Left 12 blocks behind LJ score: 16600
Code: Result: Stopped Marathon at level 100 on 2008-05-10 at 12:53 Played 257 tetrominoes in 3:28.53 (73.94/min) (active time only: 3:16.01, 78.66/min) Pressed 1029 keys (4.00/piece) Made 100 lines (1L: 51; 2L: 10; 3L: 7; 4L: 2; T1: 0; T2: 0; T3: 0) Sent 32 garbage (9.20 per minute) Left 20 blocks behind LJ score: 16400 Options Well: 10x20, Enter: Above Speed: Zero, ARE: 0 ms Randomizer: History 6 rolls of Tetrominoes Hold: On, empty, Rotation: SRS+initial Lock: Move reset, Deep: Off Line clear: 0 ms Naive, Gluing: Off Drop score: None, T-spin: 3-corner T Garbage: Off, DAS: 116 ms Instant Soft drop: 1G Slide, Hard drop: Lock Shadow: Color, Next: 1 I havent been playing this for a while. I didn't improve that much unfortunatly. If I could keep up the speed from the 40 lines challenge I should have a time around 03:00. So that's what I'm aiming at for now. Also I couldn't improve my time on the original tetris on GameBoy. It seems 08:37:67 could have been a lucky run. Best time since then is 08:50.
I was happy with this one: Code: Stopped Marathon on 2008-09-16 at 12:17 (rot=SRS, lock=Move reset, rnd=7-piece Bag, spin=3-corner T, speed=Zero) (grav=Naive, drop=None, are=0 ms, das=100 ms Instant, shadow=Faint color, next=3 pieces) Played for 1:17.75 Played 253 tetrominoes (195.24 per minute) Pressed 1564 keys (3.01 per tetromino) Made 100 lines (single: 12; double: 3; triple: 2; home run: 19; T single: 0; T double: 0; T triple: 0) Sent 97 garbage (74.85 per minute) Left 4 blocks behind LJ score: 29400 - Jono ***Replay is in the "Pyscho Drive".
Did it in C++ Heboris practice mode, which doesn't offer replays. Can probably do better. Settings: 20G, ARE 10, DAS 9, Lock 24, Clear 0, ACE-ARS2
Jono- whoa, you're really coming up on that 1:15 mark set on DTET by ????? http://dtet.web.infoseek.co.jp/cgi-bin/rank.cgi?ta Rednefed- Hebo mini has a plugin for 100 lines mode, and you can save your replay.
Cheers jujube, I am actually closer than you might think: Stopped Marathon on 2008-09-18 at 21:26 (rot=SRS, lock=Move reset, rnd=7-piece Bag, spin=3-corner T, speed=Zero) (grav=Naive, drop=None, are=0 ms, das=100 ms Instant, shadow=Faint color, next=3 pieces) Played for 1:15.73 Played 258 tetrominoes (204.40 per minute) Pressed 801 keys (3.10 per tetromino) Made 100 lines (single: 16; double: 3; triple: 6; home run: 15; T single: 0; T double: 0; T triple: 0) Sent 82 garbage (64.96 per minute) Left 24 blocks behind LJ score: 26400 - Jono
Had a 2:06 and thought I could beat it. So I did. Same speed timings. 1:57:51. Really need to do this in a replayable mode, but hebo mini isn't working right for me.
what exactly is the problem? and congrats on getting sub-2:00. that isn't very easy to do. btw just noticed that your name is "defender" spelled backwards
Code: Result: Stopped Marathon at level 100 on 2008-09-28 at 13:42 Played 261 tetrominoes in 2:55.88 (89.03/min) (active time only: 2:43.33, 95.87/min) Pressed 1085 keys (4.15/piece) Made 100 lines (single: 48; double: 9; triple: 6; home run: 4; T single: 0; T double: 0; T triple: 0) Sent 37 garbage (12.62 per minute) Left 36 blocks behind LJ score: 17400 Options Well: 10x20, Enter: Above Speed: Zero, ARE: 0 ms Randomizer: History 6 rolls of Tetrominoes Hold: On, empty, Rotation: Arika Lock: Move reset, Deep: Off Line clear: 0 ms Naive, Gluing: Off Drop score: None, T-spin: Off Garbage: Off, DAS: 150 ms Instant Soft drop: 1G Slide, Hard drop: Lock Shadow: Color, Next: 1 Managed to get under 3 minutes. Should be able to get closer to 02:30. Btw this is from the PC version.
Hebo mini, like Lockjaw, doesn't feel as smooth as Hebo C++. I get "DAS tap jitters" where the tetromino moves one extra space often, and line clear delay feels kinda funky. Because my time is around 2 minutes, I used a 2 minute ultra run to get the approximate time, which is 1:57 to 1:58. Replay. (Hebo C7 C++) Timings: 20G, ARE 10, DAS 9, Lock 24, Clear 0
Hebo UE does have default presets defined for the rotation systems. Perhaps your settings in MINI are not identical?
