Records: [NES NTSC] A-Type

  1. Boom! I finally got that 15 to 19 500k I've been craving. Wasn't so amazing up to 'transition' - I had a game earlier where I hit 414k by 99 lines, and this one was about 60k down on that - but 16 to 18 was solid. Then 19 took me by surprise and I didn't get as many as I should have done. But, what the hey, I've been wanting this for months. Level 15 days are finally over. :)

  4. After not having too much time and only occasionally playing a few Lv19 games the last 2 months I eventually had a bit more time recently. My Lv18-game definitely improved and I get to transition with at least 400k score every ~4th game. 19 is still rather shaky, but it's improving.
I just lost in this one because a really stupid misdrop and then failing to get the l-piece over for the Tetris. I might save it then. The 800k-mark surely isn't too far off. After that it will become really difficult, though, as then I have to score more aggressively on lv19.

I also struggled quite a bit to get used to the 18-19 transition. Playing only 19 for practice is a lot easier than having the game start at 18 and then suddenly it speeds up. Really takes some getting used to it and in this game you could see the instant misdrop on 19 right away.

Score: 723837 Points - which is around a 40k improvement to my last personal best.

    And for some lighthearted fun:

  6. Hey guys. Someone here from the Dallas/Forth Worth area? I'm spending a month there and would like to use the opportunity to get myself an NTSC NES but got no clue where to start and where to get a reasonable deal.

  12. Hey guys!

I don't know if laptop/online emulator is allowed, but I just got a PB of 504,008 on one, so I thought I'd submit it here.

  14. @Classic Tetris WRs, @PMYA and @Adonis Mouse: please, create a separate thread dedicated to discussing world records above a million points, because it's getting a little messy here. This thread should only contain player entries so that we can view them conveniently. ;)

  17. New PB - 885,477
Got to level 29 with no lines so guessing 230 on lines

I have a question for any reading this. What are the score benchmarks you want to be hitting in order to be on max out pace? In this game I transitioned at about 600k and played it real safe until I got to level 25 and saw I had a good chance to beat my personal best then I turned it on. Obviously burned too many lines 19-25. But I am curious where you want to be on transition and where you want to be at say level 25 etc. thanks!

  18. 560-600 transition is what you want for first max probably. On 25 you ideally want something close to 800, but it is possible to max with a very low 700 going into 25.

  19. What qualifies as an emulator? I play on nullpomino retro marathon type A using a keyboard. Is a score from that allowed?
