Vital Flaps is organizing a Tetris Splash tourney. no entry fee, and no prize money. only bragging rights and pride is at stake. the format will be heads-up matches in a race to 10 wins, with the winner advancing to the next round. matches are estimated to take about 30 minutes. semi-finals and final matches may be longer, and will probably have mods as witnesses. he's closing off registration friday night (the 18th) at midnight EST, but if you miss this first one, i'm sure there will be more coming up. contact Vital via xbox or check out his post in the Splash forum for more info: http://forums.xbox.com/17954756/ShowPost.aspx some matches may even be recorded for posterity. many of xbox's top players have already been confirmed to be playing. we hope you TC guys and fancy TGM players will come show off your skillz! evybabee
there is no longer a cap on the number of entrants. we can figure out a "bye" system for odd numbers. some players may get a free spot into the 2nd round to even it out. for example, if there is 45 entrants, 19 people would get a bye, and the other 26 would play down to 13 winners. those 13+19 would make an even 32-player bracket for the 2nd round. or if say we only get 22 players, then there would be 10 byes and the 12 play down to 6, to make 16 for the next round. to make it fair, the top ranked players may be the ones who qualify to get the bye positions. that way it is less likely that some noob will get owned by Aoki or Sniper in the first round. evy
alright great. now time to start practicing! two tetris tournaments for me at the same time. this is going to be stressful. =]
DumbleDorsArmy took some videos. Well, a lot. http://www.youtube.com/user/DumbledorsArmy360 And here's the latest tournament bracket. http://www.youshare.com/view.php?file=T ... _rev12.pdf
Caffeine knocked-out GinoMap (aka SNIPER1221) in the semi-finals today with a score of 15-9. It was a great match! GinoMap is one of the top players on Splash, and he is currently the fastest player on the 40-Line leaderboard with a time of 42.78 seconds. He beat his old time today to take the 1st place spot away from Psycho M Bison (aka Jono on TC), who is now 2nd with a time of 44.21 Caffeine is in 4th place, with 48 seconds. Caffeine will be facing off against PHiLLyZF1NeZT in the finals. Philly is ranked #1 in TrueSkill rating, and is in 12th position in 40-Line with 50.91 seconds. In my opinion, Caffeine's leaderboard stats (awesome as they are) do not truly reflect his play. Personally, I would pick Caffeine as the favorite to win the tournament. I also suspect that many Splash-regulars are rooting against Philly, mainly due tothis recent post on the Splash Forum. No date and time has been specified for the finals but it will probably take place reasonably soon. It will be a race to 25 wins, and Dumbledors will be capturing it on video. Looking forward to an exciting final match! GO CAFF!!
F'n awesome stuff, glad to see videos of this. Philly is an ass on the xbox.com forums, but it amuses the hell out of me in a childish way. If he was going against anybody other than Caffeine, I would be rooting for him. Again though, just glad Dumbledors Army captured some of these rounds, I sadly like watching some of these videos.
