I tried to use the search function, but I can't search for DS(too short), or Tetris(too common). So I have a few questions: - The rotation system used in this game is different from just about every tetris game I've played. It rotates every piece counter-clockwise. Can that be changed? - The controls are so bad. Up on the D-Pad for hard drop, and left and right on the D-Pad to move? That's a lot of pausing in between dropping pieces and moving pieces...besides, don't most tetris games use up for rotate? Can I change the controls at all? - What does mario have to do with tetris, anyways... -_-
B rotates counter-clockwise, and A rotates clockwise. Having two rotation buttons makes it much faster and easier to get the pieces into the orientation you want. Up to rotate may be the most common control scheme for PC tetris games, but not for consoles and handhelds. You can't change it to that either, because then there would only be one rotation button. Mario has absolutely nothing to do with Tetris.
Ah, my A button is broken, so this sucks for me. I heard of someone using R and L buttons for hold/hard drop. Can I change the controls to that in any way?
- Okay, I can understand that you don't like the fact that you can't change rotation. - But about the other controls: Do you really think it's bad?! I mean, a ds is a HANDHELD...I guess you use your thumb for the movement, right? Wouldn't it be very impractical for a handheld to use 'up' for rotation? Well, if you say that the controls are so bad, what would you suggest??? - And what are the other tetris games you've played?
I find up makes a fair amount of sense for hard dropping. I find it's pretty easy to just roll the d-pad up when I'm done moving sideways. Maybe it's not strictly the fastest button combination ever, but when you've only got two thumbs and two fingers then there's not much you can do about that anyway. And the movement in Tetris DS is slow as hell anyway, so it doesn't make much difference in terms of time.
Note very fair, it would say that you will test Tetris Ds online for fun ? Rosti master ^ ^ I am at work now, I make the sign as soon as I am ok edit : If you have your nintendo code CWF, I record it I'll go mine just now soon
I'd be happy to play a few games against you, but I'm currently at University and I don't have any wifi access here.
I have not played Tetris DS seriously in a looooong time, but I can try to set that up again if you want a few games. I'm Canadian, and I assume you are from France, so it will have to be in your evening.
Will be pleased if you want color, @ Rosti, really it's been far before March 15?! edit : If you also your friend code CWF color I want ... well (you are in Canada ... I just forgot this detail XD)
For every other tetris game I've played, I use up for rotation, and spacebar for hard drop. Switch Up on the D-Pad to R or L, it would be way easier and much faster that way. Facebook, hi-games, um...ya
That's because they're not official Tetris games. Or even particularly good clones. Tetris Friends on facebook is now, but it's still not completely broken away from Blockstar. The exact opposite complaints get given when people used to the official games such as myself play the various poor clones on the web and wonder why the fuck they put up as rotate.
i don't see anything wrong with the button mapping in TDS. with some practice it feels fine. when i use my Logitech gamepad for pc tetris i usually map one of the shoulder buttons to hard drop, but this has more to do with avoiding diagonals on the d-pad than anything. because the DS d-pad was designed better i never have trouble avoiding diagonals.
ah ok, I see Rosti now, zit, learning to play with both button took me around..4-5 hours to be confortable, you should start as soon as possible, because I have a lot of other things to teach you..
Actually, plenty of official PC tetris games use that godawful scheme where uparow is mapped to rotate and space is hard drop.
