So I have been thinking about stepping up my game and going to the PCB side, But I currently lack a jamma cab and my hunt for one has only ended in tears. My current idea is to build a supergun and have it run on a Sony Trinitron (since trying to find a PVM cheap hasn't been working out for me, and I'm trying to keep costs low). Would this idea work out without any latency issues, or will I end up having to get a PVM or an arcade monitor? I was also thinking of adapting this build into a mame cab that I was scratch building.
If you want to build it into a cabinet eventually you might want to look for an open-frame arcade monitor (any size you like). They're less valued than PVMs but they support JAMMA RGB without conversion and are easily mounted into a cabinet. The only downside is that you'd have a bare monitor sitting on your desk until you build the cabinet.
