Phydeaux can confirm I'm telling the truth. First things first... This game kicks massive amounts of ass. Stylus control is wicked awesome, and I can't even go back to button play now. It's much faster, more responsive, and it aids greatly in making skill chains. It's so good, that even after my first online match, the game considers me a pro and has locked out "newbie play". It definitely lives up to the Puzzle League name. The action is frenetic and it gets your blood pressure way up. From what I've seen, there is a great deal of different game modes. You have Time Trial, Garbage Play, and of course, Endless Mode. And the game is great fun--I'm already addicted. Puzzle fans need to get this game now. Now, Puzzle League fans know that a staple of the series is completely kick-ass music. In fact, to me, Tetris Attack has the best soundtrack of any game ever made. Ever. PPL's music is Puzzle League worthy. It's addicting, and it gets you in the mood. However, while each of Tetris Attack's tracks were amazing, PPL has a few not so amazing tracks. All the tracks are good, but you can clearly tell some are better than others. In Tetris Attack, you're all "this song is my favorite. no, THIS one is. no, THIS one. oh wait how about this one?!". Here, you'll quickly find your favorite tune and stick to it. Graphics are great. The tiles are bright and vivid, and the backgrounds are constantly moving, rotating, what have you. Everything looks great. What I particulary like are all the different tile sets. The tiles will have different patterns depending on what stage you're playing. Now, to discuss WiFi. I only played one match, and lost. But it was completely awesome. Believe me when I say it's the best online experience the DS has to offer. Right now, it's a little bit frustrating as I'm the only person in the USA to have the game, so I'm battling seasoned Japanese people who have had the game for two months already. But yeah, it was definitely a blast. So, from the little I've played, I declare PPL "BEST DS GAME EVER AND HANDHELD GAME OF THE YEAR".
And watch newbs call it "Meteos 2: More Scribble Training". Ouch. Does it have files for multiple human players who share one DS and one copy of the game, the way Pokmon Puzzle League for N64 does? Or if something is locked out, is it locked out for everybody who uses the Game Card? Moving in the sense of Lumines or in the sense of TOD? A feature "borrowed" from Lumines, right? So the perception of "japs" in Tetris DS will continue to PPL, right?
It releases on 29th june in europe I was looking forward to it since i first read about it a month ago
I've had the Japanese version of the game for about a month now, and I can verify that this game is, indeed, awesome.
