Okay, thought I might start a little topic with my new videogame related collection (I'm a hardcore collector): Tetris ! Started a week ago, will update the topic with pics each time I receive new stuff.
I'm trying to buy minty stuff only. Tetris 2, tetris attack, next tetris and the bbc tetris are factory sealed.
I am nowhere near as hardcore. This is all I could dig up for a quick photo: (Hey, how'd that one on the left get in there? CHESTER!!!)
I'll have to post a picture when I get home... Interestingly, there's no overlap with tepples and cyberguile, practically. Just GB Tetris and Tetris DS.
I'm not sure if Tetris Attack counts as a Tetris game, but I know that Animal Crossing doesn't count. The only official Tetris-branded games I have are Tetris Attack and Tetris DS, and I don't even have a digital camera to prove it. Pretend that I'm showing you the top-right corner of Tepples' picture and claiming it as my own.
Sweet! Please, please, follow through on this. Also, I bet I have at least a couple you guys don't. Unless you're more thorough than I'm expecting.
Just a crappy groupshot from me. I couldn't find them all in a timely manner so I'm short a few but meh. I'll add the names of things to this post in the morning, probably. <EDIT> Nothing is sealed because a library appeals to me a hell of a lot more than a collection does. One sentence mini "reviews" included! Reading off the games like a book: TAP (Arcade) - My obvious favourite. Doctor Spin Tetris (music) - I can't believe it's not a fan remix. Sega Tetris (DC) - Interesting VS gimmicks keep this game fresh and skill based. Tetris with Card Captor Sakura (PS1) - Trippy time attack puzzles for the win! The Tetris (PS1) - A budget game with really messed up block colours. Tetris Gold (PC) - Spectrum Holobyte's finest release, heh. Tetris DX (GBC) - I love the funky chiptunes. Super Tetris 2 (SFC) - A basic, but slick version of the game. Super Tetris 3 (SFC) - Makes the prequel obsolete and unnecessary in every way. Tetris 64 (N64) - No, the bio sensor doesn't do much but Giga Tetris is pretty fun. Tetris DS (NDS) - Worth it for the wifi. Tetris Battle Gaiden (SFC) - Very challenging, if gimmicky, special move based VS. Sega Ages Tetris Collection (PS2) - Respect. Tetris Worlds (GC/PC) - 2 copies is 2 copies too much. Tetris Super Deluxe (GBA) - A pirate cart containing homebrew clone Rotris. Tetris X (PS1) - Not as well done as its Super Famicom predecessors. Kids Tetris (PC) - So retarded all pieces are dominoes (yes, 1x2).
Where/How did you get that arcade cabinet? is it an all-purpose MAME cabinet? or an actual TAP one? does it just sit in your house, like in the dining room or something? I already knew you had one, but i thought this thread would be a good place to ask. my tetris collection is sucky
at least, you do not have Wii-tetris but seriously asking: do you know of any plans for some sort of wii-tetris? another question: anyone owning a virtual-boy?
congrats! is that vboy cool? did you play that 3d tetris ala blockout ? does it hurt your eyes or brain (are there stereoscopic adaptation problems) after some time? wish i had one, too... but hey - not soon and we will be able to buy those new zalman 3d tft monitors (just 500$ for 19")..
The virtual boy makes you use eye-muscles that you would normally never use (you would just turn your head instead of trying to move your eye). Thus, it will be very tiring at the beginning, but once you get used to, it's "great". I say "great", coz as it was a flop, there is no game really using it's full potential.
It's a dedicated TAP machine with the actual arcade hardware at the moment, and I currently have no plans to MAME it. And yeah, it just sort of sits in the hall outside my bedroom. The game I had to import from Japan. For the cabinet I called a local arcade distributer and by chance they had one (used) to sell me. It was quite an adventure getting it though... I took a day off work and rented a U-Haul moving truck (something completely unlike what I've ever driven) and hauled it from the warehouse to my place. Which means driving that truck downtown Toronto (something completely unlike where I'm experienced driving). There were a few tense moments but I got it home ok. Of course, then it was too wide to fit through my door!! I had to disassemble it into tiny parts, bring them in one by one, and then reassemble it. It was... interesting. But totally worth it!
i think something is on the way. not 100% sure though. we have the VB also, never tried it though. oh colour_thief, nice arcade machine....TGM is an awesome game. We actually have all the pcb boards for all the tgm games. AND we also have TGM3 in an arcade/PC form. meaning, the PC box they use in arcade machines, and the joystick connects to it via a shitload of connections.
