I'm sure everyone here is aware of Murphy's Law - When something can go wrong, it almost always will. well, while playing Arkanoid DS (which, BTW, is a decent game, even if you lack the special controller that the JP community got with the game), I thought up a few applications of Murphy's Laws to Tetris. I'll be splitting them up into various categories. most of these are specific to 20G.

    General Laws

    Pure Randomizer-specific

feel free to add your own.

  2. When you're waiting for a specific piece to plug a hole, the randomiser will not give it to you. The moment you give up and ram some other object in there, or cover it up, you'll be given the piece.

  3. When you're just about to break a threshold in a certain game

    • Time to go somewhere and you have to leave
    • Girlfriend calls and decides to tell you about every moment of her day for thirty minutes
    • A new Tetris game comes out, so you have to naturally "tetlag out" for the new game and lose progress on the one you were doing so well in
    • You have to put in fifty hours of work before your next day off.

I have exactly this while waiting for the I piece, I put a L or J instead and then after that comes the I.

Hi, i'm new btw. Love the forum and the wiki.

    Time flies when playing tetris!

When waiting for an I piece, skim your stack to avoid top-outs.

good stuff, i'll have to go play some tetris for inspiration, and maybe i'll come back with a few things.

ooh, gotta get arkanoid for DS.

Oddly enough, "rectum" is the only one of these terms i've seen anywhere else. .

  10. Ass-block... I've called the O piece many obscenities in my time playing, but don't think I've used that one.

Because it's another Murphy's Law that you get an O piece whenever your stack looks like this:

    Code:
    # # # # #
    #########
    #########

One that I've personally experienced myself:

The better you do on the first 9 sections, the worse you'll mess up between level 901 and 999.

  12. Generalization: the probability of getting an O piece is proportinal to the jaggedness of your stack.

  13. I think it's a case of "great minds think alike, fools seldom differ" when it concems to O tetrominoes and crenelations...

    - Just as you're about to soothe the increasingly high stack that you haev built, the I tetromino is spawnblocked and you die.
