Most accurate homebrew ranking system (TAP) and other q's

  1. Hello,

Which homebrew tetris has the most accurate homebrew ranking system, that is if i was able to get grade S1 say on Heboris or Texmaster or whatever would i be most accurate in sayingthat i would be able to reach the same grade on the original pcb?

I've also downloaded Heboris and can't get any sounds in it, even after creating a BGM folder in the directory could anyone please help? or even give me a nod and a winkin the direction of TAP sound effects and music?

I'm edging towards texmaster at the minute because i can get the musicto work, but how can i turn off the music and keep the sound effects only in the configuration file? also i can't get it to play fullscreen even when setting full screen to 1 and windowed to 0 in the configuration file. Maybe it's because i'm using a 1024 x 600 netbook?

Finally, i use ziNc for TGM1 and mame 0.129 for TGM2P (lets just assume i own both PCB's so no-one gets in trouble eh!) and TGM1 runs at 59/60 fps but i can't find a version of Mame that shows the FPS to see how accurate my TAP emulation is. I'm currently using MameUIFX (Mame32) and there is no such setting and i'm sure i'm running a bit slow.

all answers are really appreciated, thanks for your time.

    Tmc.

  2. I think for Texmaster a full screen has to be 4:3. Have you tried changing the aspect ratio in the .ini as well?

Pretty sure that the MAME option to show FPS is something around F8 to F11. Play around with the frameskip using the buttons in that general area until you get "auto". Or maybe it's F3 or something to display it in general without altering the FPS. I can't remember.

Neither Heboris or Texmaster are 100% accurate, and really I'm not sure there are any games out there which could be certified as being 100% accurate. Texmaster is what I personally use, but that's just because I feel it works so much better than Heboris does.

Obviously the best option is to buy the PCB for the games rather than illegal emulation [IMG]

For Heboris, make sure to enable the correct BGM settings (WAV/MP3) in the "Setting" menu in-game. For MP3s, I think you have to remove the tags. I personally use WAVs because they don't give me headaches.

For Texmaster, you can enter the soundtest menu to change volume settings by pressing F7.

For grade/timing accuracy, Heboris MINI and Texmaster are fairly close but not quite. The experience doesn't differ that much though and they're quite enjoyable nonetheless. You might also want to give Blockbox a try.

in texmaster if you are looking for sound effects without music, check the thread i made some silent loops and popped 'em in there.

i'm not sure why, but i can play heboris faster then texmaster.

in texmaster my 0-500 is usually 7:10 ish, i rarely make it to 500 in under 7:00 requirement.
Heboris I do 0-500 in 6:45 ish, nearly every game.
