I was having a discussion with my teacher and we were talking about if Tetris was educational. We both agreed that it will help your reflexes but we aren't sure if it helps your analyzing skills. I think it does though because on Big Brain Academy, the Analyze category on my file is much higher than any other category. I think it has somethng to do with stacking blocks up quickly and in the right spot. That will certiantly help with analyzing other things quickly(well, in my opinion)

I dont know, what do you guys think?

  2. Tetris certainly requires quick analysis and pattern recognition skills, but the skills learnt playing are very specific to tetris and probably not of much use in any practical application.

Also, Big Brain Academy is not a very good scientific measure of anything in particular. There's no evidence that practising any specific minigame in it will "train" your brain to be any better at anything other than that particular minigame.

  3. it does keep your brain active if you're trying. like brain age, i suspect it jump starts the blood flow to your brain. i've read articles where doctors recommended elderly people to play tetris to keep them sharp.

i don't think there is any educational value in tetris because there is no practical application of the skills learned by playing tetris.

  5. Educational, no

Postiive Influence on the brain? I think yes. It just keeps your mind sharp, improves refelexes and stuff.

There's also something else. I can't remember the specific name, but being able to visualise shapes and seeing them fit together is definitely something.

  6. If you have access to Academic Search Premeire or EBSCOhost, look up "Domain specificity of spatial expertise: the case of video game players." You might can find it on scholar.google.com.

I'm sure it helps with problem solving and reasoning... I know that juggling increases gray matter in your brain
