okay so im new to the forum, and let me just say that the UI and layout is beautiful [IMG]
now for the actual reason why im posting - i have a few questions to ask.

why does akira pertain to tetris?

what is the main online tetris-based game most of TC plays?

andd.. will there be any new tetris games in the near-future?

  2. Not Akira. Arika.

They make the Tetris The Grandmaster games that most people on this forum love. (Or at least they love the clones of them)

Blockbox is an online game that people here play. As for what most of TC plays online, I dunno, I'm not so active.

As for your third question, no idea.

    And welcome to the forum!

    Seconding Blockbox.

Just be aware that the majority of people who do show up there tend to be "too busy" playing solo to do any multiplayer, if that's what you're into.

  4. I'm just waiting for Blockbox league to roll around, hehe. I'd be down to play a handful of games every once in a while though. People should drop by #tetrisconcept on QuakeNet more often to arrange games there again! I don't see so much as an "anyone up for blockbox" there anymore.

  5. If you drop by the IRC channel (#tetrisconcept on irc.quakenet.org - click irc://irc.quakenet.org/#tetrisconcept if you have Firefox), then you can probably find a few people willing to play multiplayer. Certainly myself if I'm online, because I've not got much better to do with my time any more.

    There's also the Blockbox league.

I'd say the game that most of the more active members here play offline would be Texmaster and any of the other games in or based on the TGM series as a whole.

okay thanks for all the feedback. ill be sure to look into blockbox.
btw how do you play TGM? with emulators?

  7. No, we all pay through our noses to import the official games (cough*yesweuseemulators*cough*).

Texmaster is a decent enough legal way to play it. Not 100% accurate, but certainly good enough for a beginner and it's got enough records threads here to keep things interesting. Setting up the controls isn't too straightforward, but not too hard to figure out either.

also keep in mind that emulating a game at anything other than the intended framerate isn't 100% accurate. input lag can be a problem too.
