Ello. Udy from Portsmouth, UK signing in. Stumbled across the forum looking for tactics. I'm an old Gameboy veteran and and generally schooled on the official Tetris games: DS, Splash, Tetris Zone and just getting into Tetris Friends. From reading around a bit it seems I can sharpen my game playing some of the other versions. I generally win every multiplayer game I play on Tetris Splash but maybe I haven't come across the big boys yet Anyways I'd like to try some of these other games but my first system is a mac so any suggestions on where to start would be great. I hope to stick around as I've been a hopeless addict for about 18 years, as I type my girlfriend has just finished making me a Tetris phone case. SAD! Peace. Udy.
Nice! All my Tetris play so far has been in games focussed on getting Tetrises so it certainly is refreshing and interesting to see a completely different style and ruleset. I certainly should be able to get a GBA emulator or indeed any emulator for my mac. I actually can run Windows on my mac but a little bit of my soul dies every time I run it so I prefer not to.
Another English bloke, nice. We're a bit under-represented as a nation here... It'd be nice to face you on Tetris DS sometime. Shame you're from the south though...
Pfft. We may be soft down south but out minds are twice as sharp So what should I be playing then? Got a PC as well if I have to use it!
Actually, a GBA emulator might be the easiest way for a Mac user to run recent versions of Lockjaw. PROTIP: You can save LJ settings in VisualBoyAdvance by using a saved state.
Cheers, got lockjaw working on my mac with an xbox controller now. Loving it. Looks a bit blurry full screen though obviously!
For a single-player, I'd recommend Texmaster, clone of the TGM games. Probably suggest moving on to Mame and emulations later, if you enjoy it. Of course, if you want to be the truly addicted fan, the ultimate goal is to purchase the actual arcade PCB's.
I'd love a cabinet but certainly don't have the room yet! I have to say my game has improved somewhat after a few hours of thee 300 moves game. Nice game you've got there Tepples! Will check out Texmaster too.
Texmaster should work from the Terminal if you've got SDL installed. You'll have to compile your own version of MAME if you want to play TGM2, but the first one will play in MAME OS X. You'll have to use a cheat to get rid of the siren, though, and you'll need a pretty powerful Mac to run it.
My friend couldn't run Texmaster on OSX Tiger, he said it just crashed. He has installed the latest SDL. Is Leopard required (the filenames are named "Leopard"...)?
