Edit: The dates have been set to 12->14 Muf expressed difficulty organising a TC Eindhoven meeting this year, and I wanted to do something in Barcelona this year, so the perfect opportunity came up to move the European TC meeting from Eindhoven to Barcelona! We don't know the official name of the event, and this place does a lot of them so we're gonna have to invent one, but you can say Barcelona 2025 in TC in the mean time. There will be a meetup, playing games and TGM + other puzzle games tournaments. We have lots of cabs. My TGM1 PCB is already installed but the other one is missing the ZN2, do we need 2 for the tournament? Possibly, we could do a TGM4 tournament on our huge ass windows cab and/or someone brings TAP, there's also a Taito Type-X 3 multiboot with Ti that I hope has 4way sticks so I'd have to buy them. I will make sure that the hardware is the best it can be. There is streaming equipment but the stream schedule is unsure except obviously for the entirety of the tournaments. The dates would be either the second or third weekends of September (11-13 or 18-20), if you want to attend please let me know which weekend you'd prefer. 12-14 Sep, 2025 The location is a private arcade but you can enter without a membership if you go there for an event. For this reason the exact direction should be public and we will distribute it later. It's in Esplugues de Llobregat, easily reachable with the Barcelona subway (L5). The Entry fee for the event will be €30 and that includes: T-shirts for everyone, dinner on Friday, physical prizes for the winners, free play on the whole floor with a great variety of arcade cabs. Puzzle, rhythm, shmups, fighting, racing, shooters, classics and some other random stuff. Unfortunately, no pinball. NOTE: playing other games will not be available during the official tournaments on Saturday. It is going to be available all day Friday and Sunday and on Saturday after the tournaments end. Still have to define opening hours but we are committed to reach a good compromise. I think for now the plan is Friday 16:00->late, Saturday all day from morning to total tiredness and Sunday is TBD. There is a real possibility we're going to be able to host everyone at arcade members' homes. If not, we can rent a hostel room for relatively cheap. Please let me know if you plan on coming, knowing in advance would help! And the more the merrier, I hope you can all make it and have fun!
Looking forward to this! To add some context, our venue in Eindhoven, Plug in City, underwent some organisational changes that have made it impossible to have the meeting "for free" with just drinks consumptions serving as payment (which had been the arrangement since 2015). Rising electricity costs were a contributing factor as well. I would have to have applied for subsidy from the government if I wanted either free or a low entry price, considering the event is always 4 days and the hours count up rapidly when you're open for 12+ hours a day. I won't quote the numbers here in public but the extra burden of securing financing on top of everything else just made me dread the idea of having to organise the meeting, so I'm glad that Echo stepped up with an exciting alternative.
Very exciting, sounds like a good excuse to check out Spain for once. I have no direct preference for now but it might change depending on how things go at work - I'll just say the first of those two weekends for now because that's probably easier for me to manage money wise.
Sounds great, thanks for the initiative to organize a meetup! Also might be an excuse to spend some additional vacation time there... Both weekends would work for me and I'm flexible accommodation-wise, let's see what works or not
