Something silly i thought ofjust know while playing DDR on my crappy dancemat.

It's basically tetris, with a real rythmn focus, and a big incentive to lay pieces on a certain beat. The screen is split in two, one side containing the tetris field and the other with a DDR-esque field, but with only up and down arrows. When an "up" arrow crosses the thing like in DDR, you get points for a hard drop at that time, or send garbage or whatever. In addition, you get 'Perfect' 'Boo' Etc. judging by how well you get it on time.

The Down arrow would be like the hold step on DDR, where you keep your foot on it for a long while, and you wou7ld have to soft drop.

A big part of this game would be awesome music, really techno and great beats. I'm not much of a purist, i like Koreibeinki (sp?) Bt I think Tetris as it is now, played really fast, is much more an action-techno game than a puzzle game.

I've just started DDR, its really fun, but Im not that good. Tepples, you are quite the DDR freak arent you? just curious.

But yeah, this is just for discussion, I don't know if it would even work.

I tried playing Tetris with a standard DDR pad, and using the default bindings (left, right: move; down: soft drop; X, O: rotate) didn't seem to work that well.

Just giving extra points for lines cleared on the beat would probably accomplish the same thing as your suggestion.

Actually, I was thinking of using standard control mechanisms, arcade, keyboard or whatever. It would really be tetris with rewards for doing x action on the beat, and I often find myself playing to the beat of songs if i have them in the background and have the standard music off.
