So i've been playing alot of 40 lines in lockjaw. so heres my high score Heres the recording You need the latest version of lockjaw to watch it. So any suggestions on what to do to get a better time?
keys per tetromino is very high. try to get it under four at least. remember your extra orientations. when moving I/S/Z left, rotate left, and vice versa. if i were you, i'd try to nail that as well as your DAS-wall technique before moving on. remember in SRS if you ever move a piece more than twice (or once for vertical I orientations), than you've moved more than you need. you're doing great though. general placement decisions look sharp.
Does this only apply to 20g, , where rotation shimmys the piece along, or all play? could you elaborate a bit? my KPT is usually around 3.5, 3 when i take it slowly or play baboo, but id certainly be interested in reducing it even more.
The finesse doc details how to work with SRS or TOD M4 rotation in free space. It used to be linked from a "content" section on the main page until caffeine deleted everything but the links to the wiki and forum. I wonder if the "content" could be put on the wiki in some form. For example, an S or Z tetromino can be placed on end with its left side in column 1 through 9: Counterclockwise and DAS left DAS left then clockwise, or counterclockwise and left x 2 Counterclockwise and left Counterclockwise Clockwise Clockwise and right Clockwise and right x 2 DAS right then counterclockwise Clockwise and DAS right An I tetromino can be placed on end in any of ten columns: Counterclockwise and DAS left DAS left, then counterclockwise DAS left, then clockwise Left and counterclockwise Counterclockwise Clockwise Right and counterclockwise DAS right, then counterclockwise DAS right, then clockwise Clockwise and DAS right Here's my 1:00.70 run, with 3.66 kpt. (Known bug: Replays don't count keypresses.)
the document is linked from the log section, not the content section (i haven't deleted anything so far keep calling me a deletionist, but i guess i just showed you! ) anyway, that document detailed what i thought would be a good way to play tetris ds-- meaning slow das. it's not the same way you'd want to play in a game with fast das. thought it'd be good to learn anyhow since recent games prefer boringly slow das (cough*kbr420*cough). anyhow, nice run tepples. i don't mean to one-up you, but i thought i'd go ahead and supplement that with this as well. it's not a speed run, but it's a demonstration of a 2.76kpt game. also, it's not like i'm saying it's all about kpt. speed is the goal in mind, but i'm pretty sure it's good form to learn efficiency before speed. edit: oh yeah, don't forget L, J, T, tepples-- Vertical, left flat side Clockwise and DAS left DAS left then clockwise Clockwise and left Clockwise and left x 2 Clockwise and left Clockwise Clockwise and right Clockwise and right x 2 Clockwise and DAS right then step back Clockwise and DAS right Vertical, right flat side Counterclockwise and DAS left Counterclockwise and left x 2 Counterclockwise and left Counterclockwise Counterclockwise and right Counterclockwise and right x2 DAS right, counterclockwise, and step back DAS right and counterclockwise Counterclockwise and DAS right
Well my KPT may seem high, but the only reason its up that high is i have hardrop set to slide and down set to lock. that adds an extra key press every time.
i bet that's really slowing you down. you could set hard drop to lock, and soft drop to alt. firm drop for => results.
