Another study on tetris, has anyone else seen this?

  1. It was posted on Slashdot yesterday. I haven't read the actual article yet, though, just the comments.

  2. I'm pretty sure practicing anything will show brain improvement in some way, so the study results aren't exactly surprising. What surprised me though, is that the study was funded by the tetris rights holders.

  3. Yeah, I just read this as well. Strange thing is that the study was done on "a group of adolescent girls". One wonders if they were any good at Tetris in the first place. I wonder if people like us who have been playing for too long don't get the effect any more.

  4. i agree. let's see if the study gets published openly. and if it leads to gameplay changes.

  5. They chose girls that had minimal exposure to video games - that way, any brain improvement from playing tetris would lead to a higher signal to noise ratio.
