Hey guys! I want to organize a PAL NES Tetris online competition from 15.12. - 21.12.2014. Rules: Starting Level 9, no Emulators. The goal is to achieve the highest possible score in two consecutive games. Power off your console, then on again, play 2 games and take a picture with a daily newspaper to detect the current date. If you did everything correctly, the standard score of the NES "...... 10.000 Level 9" is always visible on the 3rd place. Every day (7 days), each participant can upload photos to prove his score here in the forum. And each participant can upload as many photos as they want. After 7 days only the five highest day scores of each participant go in the standings. To be competitive, so you need not attend all 7 days. I'll update the tables every day to keep the competition exciting. Everybody is welcome !!! I would like to invite especially the "masters" of finland Jani, of sweden Jessica, of netherlands Niels, of italy Mattia and of denmark Svavar and Jacob. Suggestions are always welcome. If anything is unclear, get in touch. P.S. Here is an example photo:
How is it we are two champions of Denmark >_>? -- I'd love to partake, however, I haven't got an NES. I'll try to acquire one before this event is scheduled. It's an awesome idea. People oughtta support this.
Here is a competitive example My personal goal is an average of 400 to 450k. After a good game the pressure in the second is much higher
Today I first heard of this cheat: You get 10000 for every time you drop a tetromino while holding select! I think it makes no more sense to prove a score with a photo. What do you think? I have the ability to record videos. How does it look with you?
Hey! I was about tell that possibility to cheat. That would be problem if there were prize money . There is another main problem too. We could play with NTSC NES and in that case we would have able to get much more points. How to proof one has played with PAL? Of course if your ending level is 21-29 and scores between 700k-999k that would be show you have played NTSC. Smaller problem is you could play several games scoring under 10 000 points and NES tetris point calculator doesn´t show that. So the best way to show and proof your games would be video recording and daily magazine with you.
Excuse me. My motivation for an online competition is extremely decreased because of the cheat option. Even if there is no prize pool I'm going this week to record videos and would appreciate more videos
impossible scores that surpass level 9 when starting on it can be detected pretty easily by comparing scores to level. if the score is higher then theoretically possible then it's obviously cheated.
So is this competition canceled? If yes, I don´t have to hurry to my NES anymore. Because I have break from tetris going.
Damn...this sounded like a wicked idea!!! Would of loved to have partaken. Any chances of rescheduling till early next year? - Jono
