  1. Re: [NES] A-Type

alex- please don't add this to the list- t is clearly photoshopped. don't accept it until we have video proof.

KKG- i am ashamed of how low you have sunk in your attempts to outdo your wonderful fiance. you don't need to lie to make friends.

JK of course! congrats! 700k is kinda a huge deal! i want it to be known i am placing my bets now- you max before he does (you mad, jake?)! for someone only having played a year or so you are very impressive. cant wait to see those 9s...

  2. Re: [NES] A-Type

    27.2, son!

  3. Re: [NES] A-Type

again, alex, dont post this rubbish. bo, too, is obviously fabricating lies. no way he could actually post a 27+2... wait...

  4. Re: [NES] A-Type

I'm going to also say, nice recovery after the pause to hit the extra Tetris at the end. :p

  5. Re: [NES] A-Type

Nice max Bo! 27.2 is ridiculous. Haha Terry I ain't mad bro. I think it would be super awesome if she went down in NES Tetris history as the first female to max.

Thank you Alex for getting those scores in. You da man.

  6. Re: [NES] A-Type

Hi all. My name is Lew Krec. Previously I have had my friend Ben share my personal records on here, but I figured it was time I make my own profile.

Today I set a new personal best:

    637,121 at level 20

I know I've got a long way to go before really hitting the big-scores, but I feel like my average score is improving. Anyway, I'm glad to be part of the community now.

  7. Re: [NES] A-Type

    Welcome Lew!

You've definitely got some solid transition scores under your belt. It's all down to Level 19 survival now! :)

  8. awesome game man! it was surreal.

  9. i also have to say i find it ironic that once this score gets added to our "official" list the two best tetris players in the world will be at the bottom...

i would love to see some new games from them. i am certain they have countless maxouts and some incredible games. we need to keep pushing them and maybe they will eventually show off for us and put us in our place...

  10. Great play, and nice transition too! Maxouts with lines are always awesome to watch.

Welcome Lew, and good score :)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I recorded a 592k (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epeFEjzAduw&feature=youtu.be), it's actually lower than my 705k high, but I have only this on record so I'll keep it for now. And for Kitaru: I'm already on the list as Mattia, can you change to Simba and add this link to the comments, as a sort of proof that I know how to play? :)

  11. I came across this in my journal :)

  12. I set a new personal best this afternoon:

    645,961 at level 19

Not a big jump to my high score, but every little bit of improvement is welcomed.

  13. keep 'em coming lew! great score. i am excited to have so many newcomers, too. this field is getting more robust by the minute...

  14. JourneymanSF 590863 (NES) 9

Slight improvement to my personal best. I'm within striking distance of my brother (Mark S) at #42, haha.

I seem to be plateauing right around 600k. Any advice for getting to 700k and beyond? I've been practicing lv 19, and starting a lot of runs at 18, but usually end up at about 600k, same as starting at lv 9.

Thanks again to everyone for this forum/community, I love watching these maxout vids and getting inspired.

  15. Just get as many singles as you can after it switches to 19....use the wall charges to swing pieces quickly from let to right or vice versa...i watched other players' games to see how they avoided death....burn pieces often and keep the stack very low....700 will be yours in no time...

  16. journeymanSF- well played. it may behoove you to start filming and provide some videos so we can give feedback. it seems this is the first level of mastering the game- getting consistent 500k transitions. now on to the hard part...

my advice for 19: dont be afraid to burn early. even if you have a placement high on the stack look for a lower one so you can maintain a healthy stack with a good staircase shape on the right and some flats on the left. not sure on often or well you burn but that is an imperative skill to have for 19 play. remember that if you burn high and strategically you will have almost twice as much time to place a piece than if your stack is high- even a few rows of extra space before the piece hits the stack is helpful. also, throwing things to left (or right if, and only if you are davidV or jani) is always better than leaving nubs and hooks by your well. finally, the most valuable piece on 19 play i notice is the L block since it is the one that can most easily be forced to the left to fill gaps. worship the tetris gods, sacrifice a goat, or do whatever needs to be done to get more of those babies...

  17. Thanks for the advice guys.

I've thought about filming before so that I could personally review my mistakes, but would be even better to get some objective feedback from others.

I've heard about wall charge before, but honestly I don't quite understand it. What's the "explain it like I'm five" version of wall charge?

  18. When your piece is against a wall and you press the directional pad in the opposite direction you get a small but noticeable boost in speed. ..especially helpful on 19....check some max videos...You'll see the player stack. Usually on the left then at the right moment swing the line piece quickly to the right....

  19. To be precise, switching directions during the delay between one piece locking and the next appearing will hold over any previous momentum. So, it's more of a preservation than a boost.

You can also stop short of the wall and still reapply the old momentum -- the only thing that resets the speed is tapping or changing directions when the piece is still in play.
