    cool!
The fact is you performed tap s8 earlier although it is harder. Your time and score are rather good for a first gm.

btw, i still haven't but i'm looking forward to watch the 2 last video "tetris the master
    comment" you released.
just a small point about the way this tournament work :
it's not because you are the fastest that you win, but because you are consistent, even the weaker player still have great chance to win because of the handicap system. as long as you can beat the game and close of your record (but even -10/20 sec is still ok). actually if a weak player beat his own record from 5 sec, his chance to win strongly increase (eg : 777 must beat as well his own record to win the bracket)
    some words about 777 :
TGM1 have a very long line clear delay (almost 1 sec), if you count all the single line count in a whole game, it's a lot, lot, LOOOOOT of wasted time, it's why you have to make Tetris as much as you can !
we had a challenge long time ago : try to get GM without any single ! (very difficult)
777 have the capacity to optimise his stacking to take Triple and double if needed when he's in difficulty, but his true master skills are in the fast stacking placement.
he's so damn good he's able to put piece in the right column without "triple tapping", it's just frame placement precision !!
and strangely there are lot of other situation where he have badly poor execution reflexes, i'll post video example this evening :)

  10. so yesterday, I thought "hmmm, let's watch some more 777 videos where you hear him play".
why ? coz when I watched death videos on youtube, one of the player makes very strange noise with his stick (amnesia wrote a comment on it, something like "it sounds like he is washing his dishes" :p) and I got Gm because I tried to reproduce the same noise (making my sub 500 faster = breaking the torikan every time I reach 500)
so I listened carefully to 777 hands and the noise the stick makes when he plays and I understood. I understood that till yesterday, I was playing it the WRONG way ;)
After two hours of testing, finally managed to reproduce the weird noise and BOUM 500 in 4m50 (but died at 700...)
Expecting sub 9:30 soon (yes, 9:30 ! just need to get used to the huge astro city screen ^^)

Haha, I think I remember that video; didn't Amnesia say it sounded like he was pumping up a tire? Also, which particular 777 videos were you watching? I'm curious to see if I myself can deduce what the "correct" way of playing is from listening to the sounds he makes with the stick.

  12. Yeah ! That's it, it was a video by kashiwa I think, amnesia said "on dirait qu'il gonfle son vélo :p"
The first video that made me realise I wasn't doing the correct sound with my stick is this one:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjedG1rMcyg&feature=plcp
I felt like "hum, is he trying to break the stick at every single move ???" (which is now the way I play lol), then tried to find videos of 777 where you hear him play a bit all over the pier21 youtube page

This game is fascinating, I improved my best by 15 seconds just by watching jago play at the stunfest this year and understanding he was doing something I wasn't (when you are not sure the placement you expected was perfect, you let the piece fall in the middle, then re-think about the placement, then move it on the left or the right at the best place instead of not changing your mind and getting a suicidal pattern. I wasn't skilled enough the year before to fully understand how important this was) and I'm expecting to get 15 more seconds at least just by trying to change the sound makes my stick while I play :)

back with few example of 777 skills :

look how he's aware of the gravity speed and the fact it's still possible to get the I piece on the left, look closer how it clearly spawn on the six column but still it can step left on the fifth...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZyBcWXrO4E&t=3m45s

how to place on the exact right column without backward or multitap :
O without triple tap or backward, O without double taping or backward, L on the right, O without double tapping
more clearly : J without double tapping, S without triple tapping, Z without backward, etc....
all that stuff save time but don't try this at home :'(

remember that the game run 60fps meaning a "just frame timing" mean something around 17milliseconds with all the consequence of a "misdrop"

  14. Yes, you're right, and I have already mentioned that on other videos on eLive. The more you're keeping constant and close to your personal best time, the more you have chance to be victorious.

Anyway, thank you for your detailed explanations and videos !

  15. You guys should definitely watch S-Ken playing like a brute on the cabs. S-Ken is one of the fastest players (unless he's been only playing for 4 years) and his style is completely unique and would probably convince you there's no correct stick sounds for being good at TGM.

  16. He is playing like a brute ? Well, that summarizes perfectly the way I'm starting to play
Nico, next time you go to pier21, would be great if some players accepted to get their hand filmed while playing ^^

  17. In the case of S-Ken, you need to see his whole body shaking while he's trying to break the stick in two... I mean, when he's playing. I guess my HRAP would end in pieces before he reaches the level 600 :o

Actually, Pier21 do has some videos of most of the regular players with their hands, but not able to find it :(.

    FOUND :

The links with the words コントローラ操作動画 (CRTL F ftw).

  18. that's exactly what I thought: if you play like a brute, you press the direction buttons very strongly which makes the input much more precise, fast and annihilate the possibility to misdrop because your hand went a bit to the left before the down input was validated by the cpu ^^ (but I'm not sure you need to try and get the screen get outside the cabinet while the panel is exploding each time you press down like SKEN seems to keep doing lol)
