Because then I can't do 2-pass encoding easily. Also, Texmaster doesn't let you compress the audio as MP3.

But why do you need 2-pass encoding if you're not trying to fill a fixed-size medium such as a CD or DVD? When I use Xvid to encode The BumpityBoo Chronicles (now up to episode 18) and the rest of what I have put on YouTube, I just set it on profile=Home, quantizer=2 and let it go. Or does Xvid place keyframes more accurately in 2-pass mode than in 1-pass mode?

Then run VirtualDub in Video:Direct stream copy, Audio=Full processing mode, and select the LAME ACM encoder from the menu.

  4. I suggest avoiding MP3 as the audio codec, as the audio tends to desync every time I use that. I just use MS ADPCM for audio compression; it seems to do a fine job.

Because in any case other than CQ1-2, 2-pass encoding will be higher quality than 1-pass (be it CQ or CBR). I must admit that for youtube I usually just pick quant 2 and wait a while longer for the bigger resulting file to upload.

The point is pretty moot for me either way, as the last few Texmaster videos I've had to process had to be FLV to be used on replaycentral.tv, so I used an intermediate huffyuv AVI and went from there straight to 2-pass FLV.

  6. Me and a friend were playing doubles, we ended up getting into a pretty bad situation and we had an S piece at the very top (i think in the middle of the vanish zone ?). We managed to make some line clears, but the S piece actually extended itself INFINITELY, creating a purple wall that we had no way of clearing.

Not sure if this is intended behavior, but it was funny [IMG]

easily reproducible if you try, i think.

Here the L block gets extended.

It's the infamous row 21 bug. It happens in naive-gravity implementations that don't zero out the top row of the playfield after copying all blocks above the cleared line down a row. This results in duplicating the top line into the line below it. I found and fixed it once in one of my own games, and someone else figured out how to exploit it in Texmaster in order to make the equivalent of the 4x20 mode of Tetris Semipro 68K that allegedly inspired TGM's big mode.

  8. That's not an S piece, it's an L.

And that bug has been fixed in texmaster for quite some time now, you should update to the latest version.

  9. >_<

the screenshot was of another game. yes, that is an L piece.

  10. Great work on Texmaster, Report. I've been using this to improve my 20G play and it's been helping a good deal. I figure if I can get used to higher speeds, TGM1 20G will be easy and I'll be able to get some 999s.

Indeed. The latest version fixes this, even in Doubles mode.

Texmaster 2009 Patch 1 comes with a zip with a data file that removes music. That file doesn't seem to work for me; program doesn't start up whatsoever. The regular .dat works fine.

i mad a set of silent sounds to replace the music.

    shall i upload it someplace?

Sure. Good to see that someone else seems to enjoy playing Tetris without music.
