Can someone explain how the hell I'm supposed to play the last half of the game? My consistency is even more of a fucking joke than in shirase. I might have played 1500 games since my 699 record and I haven't even hit 580 once. The game eagerly devours my stack every chance it gets and IRS feels like a lottery. I can't imagine how I'll get Gm like this.
Re: [TAP] Death Ha. I would have never expected to see a case like yours one day. How can you be unable to become a DEATH GM in being MASTER GM. For me getting MASTER GM requiers 10 times more concentration and skill.. The world is really full of strange people.
Re: [TAP] Death How's your setup? Shmupmametgm? CRT or LCD? Have you optimized your setup? I notice a HUGE difference in lag playing on my old CRT and my 40" Sony LCD. I'm not nearly as fast as you, so for you it would make an even bigger difference.
Re: [TAP] Death I play in quite bad conditions : old laptoop, I feel the lag, more than a lot of other tetris game I have.. No need to search any technical reason, becoming DEATH GM requiers something I could call "real powerfull controled skill", but becoming MASTER GM doens't need this, you just have to be lucky enough to be born with an easy M ROLL ability, if you are around 20 years old you can learn it quickly.. Then reaching the M ROLL is doable by everybody.
Re: [TAP] Death Teach me how to stack in the M ROLL and I will teach you how to manlock at DEATH 500. Can we ? No I guess.
Re: [TAP] Death As you said, this is not something you can't learn if you aren't born with a gift so just forget about it. it feel so insulting for people who effectively spent hours, days, month, years in "real" training. Of course if you only drive your car for every day purpose, you will surely become 7th time world championship WRC, scrub.
Re: [TAP] Death Just play faster, play so fast that you constantly doubt every decision you make. Do not let the game make you its bitch and force you to adapt to its tempo. Eventually you will dominate it, you can't not. Always wanted to make a reply like that. No but seriously, I do think thats the way to go.
Re: [TAP] Death I 99% agree with that. You have to push the game and not to let him pull you. Thanks to that : 1 : you practice to push your speed limit. 2 : you stay mentaly focused 3 : you can slowdown and get a little gap time to think in particular complexe cases. 4 : big inconvenient : mistakes are so easy in these conditions. I am using this way of practice for SHIRASE : I try to push my speed until I can't control anything and even make a line. Once I get this state, I slowdown step by step until I find my ultimate effective speed where I can still properly survive in making lines.
Sometimes, when I practice in texmaster, I'll have lots of trouble at death 500 speeds - such that I won't make it to 600. Other times, I'll coast right through to 999 and wonder why it was so easy. There's a "zone" you can fall in, and other times it's no more productive than playing in zombie mode.
from my small experience: To get far in the game, I need to have a clean stack at 500. So the way I play is easy: I slow down a lot at the beginning, trying to reach 300 at around 2min05 (my best 300 so far is around 1min54), playing without too much lock from 300 to 400 but a lot of tetrises, no lock at all at 400 and keep the stack as clean as possible and aim for 500 at around 3min24. Problem is, I frequently get at 500 at 3min26 lol. I didn't improve my best for months, BUT by this training method, I get at least 30% of M grade, 40% of sub 3min30 500. Which is a HUGE improvement since six months ago, it was more like an M every two weeks Now I need to improve to get more M grade and furthermore, more M grades with a clean stack.
I believe it is your main problem. Check how much lag you have. Reliable IRS appears to be mandatory here, as misdrops are more harmful than strategical errors.
