The Introduction Thread

  1. What's up, KevinDDR? WolfET is surprisingly active for a 9 year old game, with mods still being developed. I hang out with the |SMP| clan, so I'll jump in with them on whatever servers I seem them on in Xfire. Landing Zone is pretty decent.

Hey, I see these TGM game scores in most people's sigs around here. What are the most important modes people compete in here? There are no TGM cabinets in Ohio, but I can emulate TAP.

  2. Welcome to TC, hitstun!

I think the 5 main modes here are :

    -TGM1
    -TAP : MASTER and DEATH
    -TI : MASTER and SHIRASE

There are ofcourse a ton of other modes with a ranking list but less heavy in term of importance and consideration.
If you want you and me to stay friend, don't beat me in one of these 5 modes..B)

  4. Welcome Kasbe and hitstun. :)

I have bad news for you: Marathon scoring makes no sense. Unfortunately, you can't break way from that 700k zone without employing one or both of the abuses demonstrated in that video. Since Tetris Friends counts t-spin triples, the optimal scoring strategy there uses those instead of t-spin doubles.

There are two TAP boards on YAJ for 50k yen. That's about the cheapest you'll find it (Sophia-corp charges 60k).

It's not Tetris, the pieces aren't tetrominoes.

  13. hi TC

i feel the need to make a post in this thread now that I'm getting more into TGM. some of you already know me from that other tetris board, some of you already know me from IRC, many of you I have yet to meet - and I look forward to doing so.

so a little about myself. I only seriously got into Tetris last April or so when a friend introduced me to TF. from there, I found the other tetris board, and was introduced to NullpoMino, which quickly became my main game for single-player guideline (sticking around on TF for the multiplayer). I had an on-off affair with the Grade Manias but it never really stuck. recently, I discovered Texmaster and MAME, which with a little help from the members here on IRC have now replaced NullpoMino as my main way of playing TGM-like modes.

I run King of Stackers, a turn-based SRS vs game. some people here already play.

as for where I am and where I'd like to be, here are my current records in the modes I play most:
    Texmaster Normal - S4, 438
    Texmaster Sudden - level 182
with an eventual goal of Death M and Shirase S13. i love the 20G modes, it's like cruise control for firm drop, I'm just terrible at them for the time being.

It's alright to refer to Hard Drop directly without saying "that other Tetris board", you know :). We don't hold any grudges.

Anyway, welcome! I've heard a lot of good things about King of Stackers. Might try it sometime :D.

Yeah, any board that has henk rogers as a registered member is more than "that other tetris board" :)

  16. Well, the real new TTC dev to be a forum participant has been "acemagic." Henk hasn't really said much other than he'd like to hear suggestions.

    Hi everyone :)

I've been a viewer for a while already, and I decided to join tetrisconcept today after learning much about TGM series. My first language is not English, so I hope my writing won't be too confusing.

I knew and started playing tetris since I was young, and I kept playing and stop playing until fall 2009. First, I found TF but no other games, so I registered on TF. Later on, I got to know blockbox and got aware of TGM modes, but I only played with SRS. In maybe April 2010, I started playing in ARS, and started shifting my focus to TGM modes i n ARS. Well, I play on Nullpo, blockbox and TF right now. I used to play on TOJ; I really liked it, but it'd take me too much time playing. I also played TGM3 in Akihabara once. Now, I mainly play on Nullpo for TG equivalent modes. Tetris is pretty much the only game that keeps me busy b/c my laptop can't run most of the games in the market xD. Besides Tetris, I enjoy bejeweled and real puzzles, but I don't play them often (they also would take a lot of time). I found tetrisconcept via Kitaru's status on TF when I saw his name on Survival leaderboard back in fall 2009.

I want to play on the real games, or at least on an arcade stick, but PS3 Street Fighter Fight Stick Tourney Edition doesn't work on my laptop. So now I'm still stuck with laptop keyboard. I feel bad for the keys ... If an AstroCity of BlastCity panels from Sanwa in Akihabarashop.jp would work on a laptop (MacBook from 200B), then I'd probably buy them xD

40 lines record on blockbox: 48.00 sec (SRS)
My personal records in TGM equivalent modes on Nullpo:
    TGM - GM in 12:23.98
    TAP Master - S6 (Green) at level 999 in 11:11.95; Death - level 462 in 3:46.50
Ti Master - S7 at level 657 in 5:43.75; Shirase - S3 at level 336 in 2:24.66 (with ST gold)
After throwing shirase aside for a long time, I was surprised that I can survive until level 300 :p.

That's all for now I guess. By the way, congratulations to Rosti_LFC for attaining Death Gm in TAP!

  19. Cool! :D Always awesome to see another player come out of the woodwork. Welcome to the site!

RE: The Madcatz PS3 stick: That's an unfortunate known problem with that controller. It isn't 100% compliant, so it doesn't play nice with certain chipsets. It also bit Amnesia not all too long ago. If you're up to it, you could try replacing the guts with another PS3-compatible PCB like the Cthulu.
