I'm seeing some of these guys online playing Tetris, and I'm wondering how you got so crazy good. Did you just practice a lot? Or are you just good at it?
Practice makes perfect. It took me months (maybe a year?) before I could make GM for the first time, and another two year before I could do it on demand.
motivation - comes from being able to beat better players and score...also tetris is inherently very fun. practice - when i find out about a new technique...i go to marathon mode and do it many times. the game is fun and i don't think anyone should force themselves to practice the game. i don't think even top players need to play more than 30 minutes a day to stay in top form. help - when u are not improving u should definitely hit the wiki and inform yourself about new techniques. depending on your current knowledge they can improve your play by a lot.
There is some genius who improve much faster than others, but for my case, I started playing intensively at the end of 2004, currently I spend 2h/day for average..
me niether -.- Thanks for all the replys. But there is a Tetris Wiki? I always just learned new stuff by watching other people and then, like you said, doing it over and over
i think in the forum structure there should be some explanation under the bland "Wiki" link. something like comprehensive tetris knowledge database or anything like that.
That's the only way he can get people's attention. We're all used to it already. It's been a while. About how much I play. Like most I played crazy much in the beginning. Playing over 20 hours a week was quite normal. But after a few months I started playing far less. There are still days I play 5 hours or more, but it happens far less now. I try to play as efficiently as possible and get the most out of the time I play. It's hard but I think I'm doing just fine at the moment, having met all my resolutions for this year and all.
