99 Bricks

I'm not sure anyone here has seen this game, named 99 Bricks, but it was recently featured on Gamasutra's Best of Indie Games column.

Basically, you have to stack up 99 Tetrominos to see how high of a tower you can build, but physics come into play. Also, you can move half columns widths. I got up to 411. Not sure the physics are totally accurate, but it's still fun.

 

This game is an argument against the mod 7 randomizer.

This is one of the most creative things I've seen done with Tetris in a long while. I only got 359 on my first try. I "cheated". My tower was falling so I hammered c to get rid of the last 20 blocks before it went down.

Edit: Now I realize it doesn't matter if your tower falls, the score is the highest it was.

 

omg, this game is cheap.

Even something that should be stable slowly starts swaying, and then all bets are off.

 

Yeah. People have tried stacking O's on top of each other and nothing else, and it will fall.

cool game......the high score list seems to be broken though. i created an account in case that was why, but still no.

 

LMFAO. Jay-Z was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the title of this thread.

 

From what I understand through reading the comments below the game, there's unavoidable wind. So the trick is it try to avoid making vertical seams where parts of the pile can split apart. Also, avoid pressing down to slam the pieces down, this seems to upset them a bit. Just move most of the way down and let the piece settle. Also, sometimes I'll put a piece a half column away from where I want it and slam it towards the stack at the last second. This kind of keeps things in line.

 

The physics in this game is screwed up. I scored 613 by stacking only O's and I's straight on top of each other, but if you build with a wider foundation the tower seems to sway more, which is just ridiculous.

 

I held Down all the time, only stacked O's and rotated I's. Pretty random if you'll get a good score or not...

 

Fun game!

I got 68x something, neglected two long bars when I pressed C too fast when I had a steady tower at around 650... >_<

I also almost got a tower of 99 bricks when it decided to be nasty and swayed so one of my drops didn't land where it was supposed to go and at 16 blocks left some pieces fell off. =(
