    Hey,
My boyfriend and I are both addicted to tetris and currently my top score is 2:05:55 on sprint on this site...
    http://www.tetrisfriends.com/
His is at 2:02... I never hear the end of this and it's driving me mad. Would anyone please get a better score for me? I've been trying for weeks and just can't beat it. [IMG]

  2. You can do it! Just move those fingers a little faster.

...I hope no one here helps you cheat.

I'll start by asking you some questions to help determine your current skill level, so that we can give you the most relevant advice on how to improve your 40 lines time.

    1. Do you use both rotation keys?
    2. Do you use the hard drop key?
    3. If you want to place a piece one space away from the wall, do you tap-tap-tap the left/right key, or do you hold it down until you reach the wall and then press the opposite direction?

    1. no (dyslexic)
    2. yes. fast.
    2. tap-tap-tap

I know it's not the right way but I would love it if someone could do it for me. I've read books, I play constantly I'm at my best I can be. Please x

  5. I totally agree with caffeine... imo it's LAME to let somebody else play for you(!)...that's called CHEATING! [IMG]
[Personally I will get angry to the person who will ''help'' her this way [IMG] ]

It looks like you are desparate, because you think you are at your best now, because you're already playing constantly.
Let me tell you: use the tips that tepples had given you! [IMG]
You're not really improving anymore, because you've always trained incorrectly! You can really improve by the little tips that were given to you. [IMG]

  6. Well, there are a lot of improvements that can be made without having to learn two rotation buttons or DAS finesse. At this sort of speed, your best bet is to concentrate on knowing how to stack correctly and going for tetrises. Clearing singles and doubles will only slow you down, so you should only do it if you have a lot of garbage (which is unlikely in the case of 40 lines).

I'm just taking a stab in the dark here but you probably take more time thinking about a piece placement than actually making it. If you learn how to stack for tetrises more efficiently, your 40 lines score will easily drop 30 seconds.

thanks for the help im going to try and do that, a lot of the time ive ended up with 2 rows left and it takes me 30 seconds or more to get it because i panic. i need to learn how i should get rid of that with the time ive got left

watch the countdown so you can set yourself up at the end.

  9. I think you must be wasting time deciding where to put each piece, because you should be able to get your time faster than a piece per second (1:40) no matter how little finesse you have. Make sure you're always looking at at least one piece preview and deciding where to put that piece while you place your current piece so that it doesn't take you any longer to stack than it takes to place the pieces.

as slow as the DAS in tetrisfriends is, it may be faster to tap-tap-tap in that situation.

just keep praticing, everything will come to you more naturally. you'll be pro in no time [IMG]

  12. But isn't there a "proper" way of practicing? It's really hard to be better when you pick up the wrong habits.

mmm im having the same problem - my time is 1min 52sec and cant seem to bring it down. How quickly does changing to two-key rotation improve your times; and what is the best keyboard setup for two rotation keys.
    first post [IMG]

  14. a) pretty quickly

    b) it's a personal thing, but most people use one hand for movement and dropping piece, and then the other hand.

For example I use the arrow keys for left/right/hard/soft drop, and then I use A and S to rotate.

  15. I prefer to reserve one hand for rotation and the other for movement. It's simlar to why I've lost interest in Goldeneye-style FPS controls, why I'm of the few who prefer Sin and Punishment's default control scheme (left analog to aim, L to fire, X and Y to strafe, R to jump), and why I screw up easily in Blockles (aside from it having only one rotation button).

Do you mean Goldeneye's default ("Honey") or Turok-style ("Solitaire")? Turok-style does have one hand for rotation (Control Stick) and the other for movement (C buttons).

  17. Play on a faster computer. My best time is 2:09, and I got that when I first got my computer. Now, I can only get around 2:20. My fingers move faster than the pieces do. Also, if you don't have a controller, that makes it easier than playing on the keyboard.

[IMG] u'll have to do it u'rself girl!^^* plus, imagine how bad it'll make u feel afterwards if somebody beat u'r bf instead of yourself~:3

  19. I am torn in making a response to this statement. On one hand, I will recognize that part of this comes down to personal preference and adaptation. On the other hand, arcade stick and keyboard are typically recognized as better choices for Tetris seeing as they quite literally put everything at your fingertips as opposed to gamepads that put most buttons within comfortable reach of your thumbs and thumbs alone. I suppose I will leave things at this: "your mileage may vary."
